Creamline Cool Smashers won against Cignal HD Spikers, 25-


20, 25-20, 25-16 in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League
(PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Saturday, October 21, 2023
at Batangas City Sports Center.
In their first match, the Creamline Coool Smashers continued
to flex their championship achievement through Michele
Gumabao’s 20 points, 19 attacks, and 1 block.
To the surprise of many, hometown hero Allysa Valdez only
had a quick second set and posted three quick points.
Meanwhile, Ces Molina was at the forefront yet again for the
HD Spikers with a team-high markers with Jovelyn Gonzaga
and Vanie Grandler.
Starting libero Kyla Atienza remains doubtful due to an
injury she sustained last conference while main middle
blocker 2022 Invitational Conference Finals Most Valuable
Player Ced Domingo is set to leave for abroad.
“We still have a lot to work on because we have to address
the lapses in our system,” Meneses said.
Daquis is in the USA for a coaching clinic while Gonzaga has
yet to settle her clearance to play from the Philippine Army.
Michele Gumabao’s start in the early goings of the
conference with 20 points off 19 attacks and 1 block in just
three sets, while Tots Carlos and Pangs Panaga added 10 and
7 points, respectively, in the defending All-Filipino
Conference Championship second set straight win.
Despite the absence of the “GonzaQuis” duo, the HD Spikers
downed their sister team PLDT, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20,
with Ces Molina leading the charge.
“Hopefully, we can sustain this momentum in our next game,”
Molina, who dropped 20 points, said.
The defending champions have won their first two game
with just a set dropped as Cignal HD splits 1-1.
“I think the adjustment were very minimal kasi we really
prepared our game plan and strategy beforehand palang and
na execute naman yung game” Gumabao said during the
post-game interview.
“Every game is important to us, every game, every set, every
point is a must win for us” Gumabao added.
With the win, the Creamline Cool Smashers improved to 2-0
while Cignal HD Spikers still remained 1-1.
