This document will show how to code a new or rebuilt ABS module (not from your car)
using “NCP Expert v3.0.8”. These are the steps I did when replacing my ASC ABS
module in July of 2012.
After installing a new ABS control module or a rebuilt control module (not from your car),
you need to “code it” so it knows:
• Transmission Type
• Engine (size and type)
• Set CAN (controller area network) ID for talking on the CAN bus to DME and IKE.
• Wheel spin slip before engagement
After changing my ASC ABS module, the ABS lights went off immediately, but the
traction control light stayed on.
INPA showed on the un-coded module as error “23 ASC variant coding”
Let’s start the coding process. Connect a battery charger; connect the cables to the
OBD2 port and laptop with NCP Expert. Turn the ignition to “run”
1. Start NCP Expert:

9. Select ASC5 (or DSC5 if you have DSC) and click on OK.

10. If it does not show JOBNAME = SG_CODIEREN, then press “Change Job” or F2
and select it. This will only code the ASC5 (ABS) module.
Press “Execute job” or F3 to encode the ASC module. This will take 10-20
seconds.
12. You should now clear the codes in the DME, ABS and IKE modules.
