- An art material has to be within the financial capacity of the artist to be purchased or bought. The artist can bear or
meet the expense of acquiring the needed art material.

Critiquing Appropriate Art Technique

Appropriateness
- The manner by which the artist is going to apply in creating an artwork should be suited to the kind of art materials
that will be used as well as suited to the kind of art technique.

Mastery
- It is expected that the artist is skilled and highly knowledgeable of the art technique.

Practicality
- Art technique should be functional and sensible for the objectives or purpose set by the artist for the creation of the
artwork.

Performance Practices in Nueva Ecija

Pandawan Festival
- It is celebrated in Pantabangan Nueva Ecija every last week of April.

Tsinelas Festival
- This festival originated in Gapan Nueva Ecija. It is annually celebrated every August 6-25

Kapagayan Festival
- It was first celebrated in the year 2009 to promote the palay which is considered as the main crop of Llanera, Nueva
Ecija where it is celebrated.

Kariton Festival
- This is a colorful festivals that celebrated in Licab. Colorfully dressed kariton pulled by the carabaos paraded in town. It
is being celebrated every March 28 every year.

Sibuyas Festival
- In celebration of abundant harvest of onion every year, the municipality of Bongabon holds annual celebration of
sibuyas festival every month of April.

Pagibang Damara Festival


- Pagibang Damara ( shed to be ready demolished) is an exciting festival celebrated at San Jose City. It is annually
celebrated every April 19-22

Tambo Festival
- The highlight of celebration wherein dancers wearing costumes with tambo during performance. It is celebrated
every January in San Antonio

Significance of Contemporary Arts in the Filipino Lives

Contemporary art is a form of art that allows for the ideologies, beliefs, and perceptions of the modern day and
people to gain a pictorial presentation. This art uses the expanse of freedom to inspire people to look at a till of life in a
renewed way.

Aesthetic Value
- it means that the art possesses some capacity to elicit a sense of pleasure in the viewer.

- Research has shown that viewing art can be relaxing. Studies have shown that art can help to detach people out of
their mind and calm their racing and wandering thoughts, tumultuous ideas and maelstrom of emotions.

- it allows individuals a means of personal expression. Through painting, sculpture, and performance art, anyone can
express themselves in a way that will be safely observable for others.

Cultural Commentary
- allows the artist to make commentary on the culture around them. This can include depicting literally or figuratively
their views on everything ranging from politics to pop culture. With imagery, shapes, and other varied media the artist
can create a dialogue or narrative of their views.

Thought Provoking
- Art allows people the chance to be exposed to stimuli that can provoke thoughts and even emotions. For many, it can
lead to new information, education, and growth. At times, art can be powerfully thought- provoking because it
does communicate through visuals and not words.

Elements of Art

Space
- In visual arts, it can be defined as a void, an emptiness which can either be positive and negative.

Line
- It is the extension of a point or long mark drawn or carved on a point surface.

Shape and Form


- SHAPE can be described as a figure separate from its surrounding area and can be either be geometric or organic.
- FORM is slightly similar to shape except from the fact that form is 3 dimensional.

Color
- It is a sensational created by visible wavelengths of light caught in a prism.

Value
- It is the degree of lightness and darkness of a color.

Texture
- It is the surface of an artwork. A texture can be actual or tactile, meaning it can ready be felt by touch or it can be
simulated or illusory which means it can only be seen, not felt.

Principles of Design
Harmony
- This refers to the wholeness of the design, the planning arrangement of parts, and the agreement between parts of a
composition, resulting in a united whole.

Variety
- It pertains to the assortment or diversity of a work of art.

Rhythm
- It is the regular, repeated pattern in elements of art. It is a flow, or feeling of movement.

Proportion
- Elements in an artwork or masterpieces that have a relationship with one another relationship is called proportion.

Balance
- This refers to the even distribution of weight. It is the principle that deals with equality. There are two types:
SYMMETRICAL and ASSYMETRICAL

Movements
- The principle of design refers to a way in conveying feelings and emotions.

Emphasis and Subordination


- Emphasis is the principle that gives importance or dominance to a unit or an area while subordination give less
importance to a unit or area.

- A union of Filipino visual artists composed of the most significant practitioners of this field, whose significance is again
defined within the artworld parameters of fine art.
