Mark, her lover, thought a revenge plan to kill Edward. He would fake his suicide.
Mark pretended to be Edward in different situations:
- When he was about to jump from the Morrissey Bridge and a cop saw him.
- With the psychiatrist who actually didn’t care a lot about the situation.
- With the doctor when he told him he had ingested 20 sleeping pills and he had a stomach pump.
- In the gun shop when he bought a gun and some bullets.

DEATH ON CHRISTMAS EVE

The story is told in the first person, the lawyer is the speaker. He was in front of the house which used to be attractive but
now it was dilapidated. Celia opened the door and she seemed ruined/destroyed.
The house was dark inside and she didn’t want to turn the light. There were some objects on the floor and Celia said they
were Jessie’s possessions.
They went to Charlie’s room but only the lawyer got into it.
Charlie was younger than Celia but he looked older. He wanted the law to take his sister and kill her because of Jessie’s
murder but the lawyer insisted on that being impossible because there were no evidence or witnesses to prove that Celia
was the murderer. He also mentioned that there were no motives for that murder.
Charlie claimed that it was him. He was the only person who Celia had in her life and she wanted for her.
The lawyer tried to take Charlie out of the house but Celia didn’t want that because they were supposed to be mourning.
The lawyer did go to the bar and having a conversation with Al Sharp we get to know that this situation occurred 20 years
ago.
THE HEROINE
Lucille Smith wanted (or needed) to forget her past. Her mother had died three weeks ago from some disease and the
psychiatrist recommended her to start a new life.
She was the new governess at the Christiansen’s house. She worked with Nicky and Heloise, who with she was extremely
fond of. That may be the reason why she was always trying to protect them or even save them from a tragedy.
One night she decided to provoke an accident so that would be an excellent opportunity to save the children.
Burning a gasoline tank was the perfect excuse to be the heroine ;)
