complex concepts. It also convey data in a visually appealing and easily understandable
manner . In the field of civil engineering construction, infographics can be used to
communicate various aspects of projects, processes and data. They are many type of
infographics such as statistical, site safety, project showcase, material usage and many more .
I’m going to focus on process, statistical, site plan, safety and material infographics as five
types of infographics.
Visual communication is a type of communication that uses images, graphics, or other visual
elements to communicate information.
Workflow sequences are a type of visual communication that is used to show the steps in a
process or sequence of events.
A visualised survey is a type of survey that uses graphics or other visual elements to
communicate the results of the survey.
Stakeholders are individuals or groups who have an interest in, or are affected by, the
outcome of a process or decision.
Process infographics are used to illustrate the various stages or steps involved in a
construction process. They can be used to explain complex construction methods, project
timelines, or workflow sequences. Process infographics can help stakeholders, including
clients, contractors, and workers, understand the progression and flow of a construction
project. (Baskar P. 2016) said process infographics visually depict the sequential steps
involved in a construction process. They provide a clear overview of the construction phases,
timelines, and key activities involved in a project. Process infographics are useful for
explaining the construction workflow, project management, and the interdependencies
between different stages of a construction project. For example, the process infographic of
visual communication uses a different color for the headers of each step and notice how the
colors of numbered icons on the right side of the infographic correspond with the headers.

results present data from multiple sources, or backup an argument with relevant data, then
a statistical infographics is the best infographic to do that ( Ellenberg J H and Wiegand R.
L. 2015). A statistical infographic puts the focus on your data, the layout and visuals will help
you tell the story behind your data .For example, this infographic uses an icon to illustrate
each statistic and this statistical infographic template uses a combination of bold fonts and
colorful icons to draw attention to each statistic.
Site plan infographics provide an overview of a construction site, including its layout, key
features, and spatial relationships . A site plan infographic is a graphic representation of the
layout of a site, typically for a building or other structure. It is often used in architecture and
construction to show the location of the building in relation to its surroundings, as well as the
internal layout of the building itself. A site plan infographic can include elements such as
floor plans, elevation views, and landscaping plans. They are typically drawn to scale, so that
all elements are represented accurately in proportion to each other. Site plan infographics can
be created using traditional drafting method or they can be created digitally using computer-
aided design (CAD) software.( Krum R 2014) These infographics can be used to showcase
the site's topography, building locations, utilities, access points, and other relevant
information. Site plan infographics help stakeholders visualize the project's physical context
and aid in understanding site-specific considerations.

Material or equipment infographics provide visual representations of construction materials,
components, or machinery. They can include diagrams, labels, and specifications to showcase
the characteristics, applications, and usage of different materials or equipment. These
infographics can be helpful for contractors, architects, and engineers to understand the
selection and integration of various materials and equipment in construction projects.
Material usage infographics provide visual representations of the types and quantities of
materials used in construction projects. These infographics can showcase the sustainable
practices employed, recycled materials utilized, or the environmental impact of certain
construction materials. Material usage infographics are valuable for demonstrating eco-
friendly construction approaches and promoting sustainable construction practices.
(Smiciklas M . 2012) also mention that material Infographics are a valuable tool for
visual communication.
