Two devil ears appeared in the shadow behind him on the plain wall.

“So you’re the

person that has been stealing the money from all the banks”, I yelled. “I didn’t steal
any money!” he denied. “No time for excuses, I know it is you and I know the
money is in your bag. Now follow me because we need to go to the police station” I
answered. He grudgingly trailed behind me muttering that he was not guilty.

My name is Alice Protagonist and I work for a detective agency in California. I

found out when I was 15 years old, that I could see people’s true forms and
intentions within their shadows. I was very confused when I first saw a halo appear
on top of a kind old woman’s shadow, but then I figured out what the shadow was
really telling me. No one knows, not even my boss. He just thinks that I am a really
good detective and can recognise criminals easily. I just caught a teenager who stole
over $10,000,000 from Union Bank. I saw him running across some back-streets
with a duffle bag in his hand. I have captured a lot of criminals who all claim that
they have done nothing wrong. I guess they just can’t bear the thought of going to
prison.

Since our detective agency is the top and most trusted agency in the USA, the judge
does not get involved and the criminals are sent straight to prison for the amount of
time that we decide. However, the judge wanted to check how our agency was doing,
meaning that we had to hold a trial for the teenager who stole the money. No one
was worried about the court case because everyone knew how good of an agency we
were.

As we sat down in the courtroom and introduced the case. The judge then asked for
evidence and I lifted up the duffle bag. As I opened the zipper, to my horror, there
was nothing but a few t-shirts in there. I exclaimed “he took the money out and
swapped it with t-shirts!” Everyone gasped. The judge looked at me. “Miss
Protagonist, do you have any proof that this is actually the criminal?! I am beginning
to think that this teenager is innocent.” the judge exclaimed. “Well, n-n-not really. I
know my instincts though. He is guilty!” I said. “I think you have been sending
innocent people to jail,” the judge slammed his hammer on the table. “Your detective
agency is now closed. What a disgrace!”
My boss stared at me in horror as I stood up, shaking. I ran out of the building and
stood across from the wall. I looked curiously at my shadow and two devil ears
formed…
