How does Lilith’s story evolve and be part of literature?

- Lilith is a literary figure who has different stories and interpretations circulating within the
evolution of literature. She was known as a succubus who engaged in sexual activities
with men and killed babies, the whore of Babylon, the first witch, etc. But she was
popularly known as the first wife of Adam in a Jewish book called The Alphabet of Ben
Sira. According to the story, Lilith left the Garden of Eden because she refused to be in
an inferior position or to be under Adam during sexual intercourse (Another article that I
read mentioned that she believes that Adam and her are equal, so she doesn’t need to
lay beneath him during sex). Then, she became the wife of Satan and the Goddess of
Hell. Despite all the stories about her, Lilith’s character wasn’t actually featured in the
bible and did not appear in the Book of Genesis, she was really just a mythological
character. In conclusion, Lilith’s story became a part of literature because of how
controversial her character was even though it was only from a folklore and also due to
her refusal to be dominated by a man, which made her become a symbol of female
empowerment in feminist literature.

Gossips about William Shakespeare:

- Aside from being known as a writer of tragic stories, the reason why Shakespeare wrote
such stories is because it was an interesting genre that allowed people back then to
peek into the lives of the rich and realize that even they experienced misery, which made
ordinary people feel better about themselves. I also read that the dark side of William
Shakespeare was that he illegally hoarded grains during a famine, and he was also a tax
evader. According to an article by TIME, court and tax records suggest Shakespeare
was prosecuted and fined for tax evasion and exploiting others for profit, and that
Shakespeare allegedly resorted to illegal activities to provide for his daughters during
food shortages in the 17th century. Meanwhile, another article states that researchers
claimed Shakespeare was bisexual and had affairs with both men and women during his
marriage to Anne Hathaway. Dr. Edmonsdon said that the language of sexuality that
Shakespeare used in some of his sonnets are addressed to a male subject, which made
him conclude that he was bisexual.
