BUSINESS OVERVIEW:

Description

Tie-and-dye is a hand method of producing patterns in textiles by tying

portions of the fabric or yarn so that they will not absorb the dye. The
process involves folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or a garment
and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by application of dye.

The manipulation of the fabric prior to application of dye is called resist, as

it partially or completely prevents the applied dye from colouring the fabric.

More sophisticated tie-and-dyes involve additional steps, including an initial

application of dye prior to the resist, multiple sequential dye and resist steps,
and the use of other types of resists and discharge.

The name of the brand is going to be kex-styles. It will be located in Lagos.

Tie-and-dye designer clothing has a great demand in both national and
international market. With high-quality work, you can easily grow your small-
scale business unit into a large a profitable enterprise. From tie-dye t-shirts and
materials, you can choose any clothing product as per market demand.
Major Demographic, Economic, Social, and Cultural Factors

A study carried out explored the demographic profile of home-based textile

designers that blog. The findings suggest that the typical home-based textile
design patronizers are a female of indiscriminate age, who is most likely
married with 2.3 children, and pursues informal textile design education
opportunities in addition to running an HBB from her blog. She will most likely
market and offer customizable products on her e-commerce page. Many
designers found inspiration from their children and the typical designer with
children will probably use her children in her art or as models.

Figure 2: Chart of the textile dye market through the years.

According to the Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association, around 85% of

textiles sold in Nigeria are smuggled and the country loses around $325m in
potential Value Added Tax revenue annually due to smuggling. Benin Republic,
Nigeria's closest neighbour, appears as trading post for most of these materials.
Most of the Malaysian and Chinese second-hand good pass through that
country. The border agreement between the Nigerian government and Republic
of Benin further compounds the problem of smuggling and impacts negatively
on the deteriorating industry.
Tie-dye is a craft that is widely practiced in many parts of the world. As an
indigenous craft it could be used to forge local identity in the form of dress
code. This is especially true for Africa, and Nigeria where Adire, an important
Yoruba died cloth, is a product of the tie-die technique. Adire is inextricably
connected to the economic and social fabrics of the Yoruba people. Apart from
its role in the socio-cultural milieu, it also serves important economic roles by
providing the people with job opportunities, source of income, among other
benefits. The major material for this craft mostly derives from local sources and
the process is slow while the finishing seems poor most of the times. Tie and
dye has a lot of social and cultural evidence as discussed above.

Major Player

The Huntsman Corporation (US), Kiri Industries (India), Zhejiang Longsheng

Group Co., Ltd. (China), LANXESS AG (Germany), and Archroma
Management LLC (Switzerland) are some of the players operating in the global
market. For this business, the African Textile Manufacturers Limited which is a
Nigerian textile manufacturing company that offers the printing and sales of
Crowntex, Duniya, Queentex, FESTAC, WAZOBIA and Abada Real wax and
reside in kano state will be our major player.

Trends in the Industry

Speaking of fashion, a uniquely trendy tie dye dresses is a sure hit in the fashion
industry these days. These dresses won't be as beautiful as other styles of
dresses are, but thanks to the unique and inventive process in which they were
made and their unique appearance, these tie dye dresses may be employed as a
fashion statement and wearing them would make you seem like a living piece of
art.

With this, we'll take a glance at the process of making tie dye dresses which is
named tie dyeing. Tie-dye is the practice of dying fabrics by utilizing a specific
resist dying process. It's a strategy in which selected areas of fabric are bound or
tied in a specific pattern with rubber bands, clamps, or strings so as to resist
color when the material is immersed in a dye bath. Thereafter, dye is then
applied to the material not being bound with string or rubber bands. With this,
the banded area will withstand the dye, making a certain pattern on the material.

Figure 3: Trends in tie and dye

Additionally, making and wearing tie dye dresses has advantages too. These
advantages include :
 Tie dyeing gets your creative energies flowing. The process may sound
simple but in actual fact making it trendy and wonderfully designed
depends upon your creativity to think and make a design or a pattern.

 Timeless. With the undeniable fact that tie dye dresses never fades, this
element of fashion is timeless which means you'll never be out of fashion
wearing this.

 Fun surprises. Since each design is always different and one can't forecast
the end result with certainty, the surprise is an element of the excitement.
Fold here and there and be shocked with the design you get resurrects
clothing. Tie-dyeing is a good way to give new life to an old or stained t-
shirt. In other words, this process gives a new face to your old clothes and
is also a great way to recycle.

 At the end, making tie dye dresses is a skill and any person, even you, can
be an artist this way.
Government Regulation

With respect to the legislation, there is no consensus amongst the different

countries concerning effluent discharge, and there is no official document
listing the different effluent limit values applied in different countries. Many
federal countries, such as the United States of America, Canada and Australia
have national environmental legislation, which, as in Europe, establishes the
limits that must be complied with. Some countries, such as Thailand, have
copied the American system, whereas others, such as Turkey or Morocco, have
copied the European model. In some countries, for example India, Pakistan and
Malaysia, the emission limits are recommended, but are not mandatory. With
respect to the color, in some countries such as France, Austria and Italy, there
are limits for the color of the effluent, but since they use different units, a
comparison is impossible. The oldest unit is the Hazen, in use since the
beginning of the 20th century, but in France, the current unit is (mg L-1Pt–Co).
The coloration values are determined by a comparative analysis with model
solutions prepared according to defined procedures.

Eleko, batik, computerized sublimation cloth printing techniques to bring out
both ancient and modern designs. After we have designed, we package them

Market Trends

Tie and dye in trending currently and is used in items such as scarfs, dresses,
skirts, blouses and sometimes even bags to list a few. This year alone tie and die
has seen a massive uprise in the usage around the globe as youth and even older
individuals are beginning to patronize tie and dye vendors all around. So, as of
this moment tie and dye is trendy around the market.

Implication or Risk Factors

Dyes used in textile finishing have many different, complex chemical structures
and there are many products in commercial use. Uncontrolled exposure to some
hazardous dyestuffs is clearly recognized as potentially harmful to health; but
there are a very large number of dyes that have not been associated with any
adverse health effects. It is possible that, for a small number of these, adverse
effects on health can occur but have not yet been detected; however, it is
unlikely we will ever have complete knowledge of all the hazards of dyes. So it
is prudent to minimize exposure to dyes of all types, even if no adverse health
effects are known.
