What are the important parameters in agricultural and bio-production system?

The industry of agriculture holds a large scope and broad enough to be not taken into a single
area. This does not only focus on farming and livestock but also involves also fisheries and may even
include forestry. In an academe, there may be more than two programs under the agriculture department
as this sector is divided into specific fields to narrow down certain areas to be studied and explored. There
are numerous parameters that is needed to be considered in agriculture as it depends on what livestock
animal or crops are considered. They may differ based on their needs such as weather and climate, soil
conditions and nutrients, etc.
One parameter that is most common in all aspects stated earlier is the climate. Climate is rapidly
changing due to the high emissions of harmful gases. This causes a relatively high temperatures in most
areas. High temperatures greatly affect the operations in agriculture. According to Cheng and Fei (2022),
when the ambient temperature fluctuates beyond the range of thermal comfort, animals get stressed and
experience thermal stress. Conditions with high temperatures cause a significant reduction in yield
(Parthasarathi et al., 2022).
In crop farming, several parameters include soil quality, water availability, nutrient content, pest
and disease control, and climate and weather. Soil quality, water availability and nutrient content are
significant parameters that should be taken into account as plants are dependent on these aspects. They
need the best soil quality, sufficient amount of water, and abundance of nutrients in the soil in order to
maximize its productivity wherein crops can grow well and healthy.
Livestock farming should consider the health and welfare of the animals, its environmental
impacts, and the assurance of the productivity of the processes. In a study of the Department of
Agriculture, the strategy for the hog business in the Philippines also emphasizes the significance of
cooperation between information and communication technology (ICT) specialists, engineers,
veterinarians, ethologists, physiologists, and animal scientists.
Another thing that should be looked closely is the economic viability of agricultural and bio-
production systems. There is a need to involve this in the parameters as this measures how your
operations are going. This shows if your production is doing well or the other way around. One thing that
can be done prior running the business is a feasibility study to ensure that the business is economically
feasible.
Overall, agricultural and bio-production system and operations should be looked closely
