Foundation ARCP Checklist – Requirements for satisfactory completion

IMPORTANT: Where a foundation doctor’s rotation has been changed due to the COVID-19
situation, there should be no penalty for repeating a specialty placement or being unable to
complete a community placement.

This document does NOT apply to those trainees who were awarded an Outcome 3 or Outcome
10.2 at a previous ARCP. These trainees should have individual requirements decided by their
ARCP panel, which should be clearly and explicitly stated on their ARCP Outcome form.

Requirement Information Notes

Provisional registration To undertake the first year of the Foundation


and a licence to Programme, doctors must be provisionally
practise with the GMC registered with the GMC and hold a licence to
(F1only) practise. In exceptional circumstances (e.g.
refugees), a fully registered doctor with a
license to practise may be appointed to the first
year of a Foundation Programme.

10.2 Progress is satisfactory but acquisition of competences/capabilities by the FD has been delayed by
COVID-19 disruption. The FD is at a critical progression point in their programme and additional training time
