As a high school science teacher and the single subject instructor of Math and Science Content Area Literacy at UC Irvine, I am writing this letter of recommendation. I have found Dian to be a leader among her peers when taking on tasks to present mathematics lessons that integrate literacy strategies. ‘Once she began teaching in front of an audience, it was apparent that Dian had a special gift for grabbing 1g math concepts in a fun and relatable the attention of students and finding creative new ways of tead ‘way. Ihave witnessed Dian’s willingness to go above and beyond when designing lessons so that students can express their mathematical knowledge using academic vocabulary using sentence frames. Dian stands out among other single-subject candidates due to her ability to engage classrooms jes and use a high-energy approach to engage students to speak out loud about their with structured acti understandings. Dian is creative in her lesson design and is conscious of making math concepts relatable to high school-aged students. She has experience communicating with parents about students’ needs and ity to create equity plans for English Language learners. Dian is proficient in successes, as well as the al using educational technology including Google Suites, Peardeck, Desmos, Aeries, and Canvas. and English, Dian is fluent in Mandarin and is capable of teaching Mathematics in both Mandari She will be a great asset to any school that is looking for a teacher who is bilingual and willing to be a team player in any math department.
