‘To Whom It May Concern,
Dian Tang is in the process of completing her single-subject teaching credential in mathematics
and is in the final quarter of her student teaching at Northwood High School in the Irvine Unified School
District. As a high school science teacher and the single subject instructor of Math and Science Content
Area Literacy at UC Irvine, I am writing this letter of recommendation. I have found Dian to be a leader
among her peers when taking on tasks to present mathematics lessons that integrate literacy strategies.
‘Once she began teaching in front of an audience, it was apparent that Dian had a special gift for grabbing
1g math concepts in a fun and relatable
the attention of students and finding creative new ways of tead
‘way. Ihave witnessed Dian’s willingness to go above and beyond when designing lessons so that
students can express their mathematical knowledge using academic vocabulary using sentence frames.
Dian stands out among other single-subject candidates due to her ability to engage classrooms
jes and use a high-energy approach to engage students to speak out loud about their
with structured acti
understandings. Dian is creative in her lesson design and is conscious of making math concepts relatable
to high school-aged students. She has experience communicating with parents about students’ needs and
ity to create equity plans for English Language learners. Dian is proficient in
successes, as well as the al

She will be a great asset to any school that is looking for a teacher who is bilingual and willing to be a
team player in any math department. Please feel free to call me if you have questions regarding her
qualifications.
