7 CHAKRA MEDITATIONS

TO KEEP YOU IN BALANCE

By Minded Spirit
INTRODUCTION

Chakra meditations are a great way to clear, balance and cleanse

your chakras. They can help you bring harmony and balance to your
whole being by clearing all the negative energy that might have built
up inside you throughout your life, or simply by living in this chaotic
world.

This week-long meditation series is designed to unblock and balance

your chakras leading you to overall health and happiness. You might
be doing some of these meditations already: trust your gut when
they feel right and allow your knowledge to grow.

The word “chakra” comes from the Sanskrit meaning wheel or disk. It
represents the body's main energy centers and is our focal point for
spiritual and health advancement. There are seven chakras, each
vibrating at a different frequency, aligned along the spinal column.
The first three chakras — root, sacral, and solar plexus — govern
our sense of stability and security within the physical plane. The
heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras are what link us to our
higher selves and our connection to the spiritual world.

To learn more about the 7 Chakras and how to keep them in

balance, read our previous eBook – How To Balance Your 7
Chakras

The meditation approach I'm going to teach you is a very simple one.
This form of meditation is designed to quiet and center your mind,
allowing space for creativity, inspiration, and spiritual growth.

Each meditation in this series is aimed at one specific chakra.

You can use them individually or together as a complete set. You
can also use them as part of your daily routine or whenever you feel
like you need some extra support and balance.

Let’s begin…

2
THE ROOT CHAKRA: MULADHARA

Try this grounding meditation to activate your root chakra if you're

feeling unsettled, overwhelmed with uncertainty, or going through
major life changes.

Consider performing this meditation outside, seated on the

ground, to connect more fully with the earth element. Plant your
feet firmly on the ground if you are sitting in a chair. You may
also prefer to lie down on the floor for this one.

Close your eyes and imagine a ruby red sphere of light

illuminating the floor of your pelvis at the base of your spine. If
you are lying down, the light may radiate down your legs to your
feet, or it may cover the entire area that is in contact with the
ground beneath you.

Take a deep breath. Imagine fortifying your physical foundation

with each breath, sending your roots deep and wide.

Draw energy up your roots into the space just in front of your
tailbone that is glowing red, and exhale it back down and wide
into the earth beneath you.

Additional practices: While doing this meditation, listen to tribal or

drumming music and chant along with the sound to activate the
earth element in your body.

3
THE SACRAL CHAKRA:
SVADISTHANA

This meditation can help you trust your emotional intelligence,

allowing your emotions to flow freely through you. Spend some time
with this sacral chakra practice to connect to your emotional center
when you feel emotionally stuck or rigid.

Sit with your hips higher than your knees so that your low back
and hips can relax. Rock your pelvis forward and backward a few
times to loosen up the space around the sacral center before
you find stillness.

Visualize a beautiful, vibrant setting sun as it lowers over the

ocean's horizon line, floating right in the middle of your pelvic
bowl - midway between your navel and your pubic bone. The
fiery orange light pervades your internal organs and reflects off
the gentle waves of water beneath it.

Begin to imagine your breath as ocean waves, with inhalations

pulling the waves to shore and exhalations pulling the waves
back into the sea as you breathe. Although your body is still,
your breath never stops moving, and you notice the breath
suspension between rounds.

Imagine any stuck emotional energy being washed over and

through your system as you meditate on the breath and the
water element, clearing you from the inside out.

4
THE SACRAL CHAKRA:
SVADISTHANA

Additional practices: Listen to a recording of ocean sounds while

you meditate or, if possible, sit by the ocean itself or another large
body of water. You can carry the vibration of the water element with
you during and after your meditation by chanting the sound Vam.

5
THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA:
MANIPURA

Bringing energy to your solar plexus can remind you of your power
and strength when you are feeling disempowered, unworthy, or
insecure. Connect with your warrior nature to summon courage,
discipline, and confidence.

Begin by sitting comfortably, with a tall and relaxed spine. Before

you sit, place your hands on your belly and massage large
clockwise circles. This movement will not only help with proper
digestive fire, but it will also soften the belly, which can become
tense when feelings of unworthiness creep in.

After rubbing 7-10 circles on your belly, place your hands on

your thighs and breathe deeply. Gently tone your abdominal
muscles on exhalations, and soften and fill your belly on
inhalations. This pattern will aid in the support of a subtle
breath, which will bring natural heat to your system from within.

6
THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA:
MANIPURA

Visualize the element of fire burning away your feelings of

inadequacy and being trapped by your circumstances. With each
breath cycle, imagine the flame right behind your naval and
blowing the smoke out through your nose. By energetically
purifying your abdominal area, you are also supporting your
heart's desires, allowing you to act with strength and self-
assurance.

Additional practices: Light a candle or meditate in front of a fire as

an additional support practice. You could also try writing what binds
you on pieces of paper and throwing them (safely) into the actual
flames, in addition to visualizing your fears being transformed by
your inner flame. To activate the fire element, try chanting the sound
Ram.

7
THE HEART CHAKRA: ANAHATA

If you're feeling isolated, lonely, or broken-hearted, try this

meditation. Bringing energy to your heart chakra connects you to
objectless and unconditional love, as well as resilience, compassion,
and generosity of spirit.

Sit tall, with your shoulders back and a proud posture. Because
your lungs are connected to the heart chakra, it is critical that
you try to breathe deeply during this practice.

To begin, imagine an emerald green light filling your entire chest

cavity. By fortifying this light with your attention and breath, you
are fortifying the shield that protects your heart from the trials
and tribulations of life. Feed this green light so it can help you
feel safe enough to love and be loved.

After a few minutes of breathing in this space, bring your

attention to the center of your chest. See and feel love, beauty,
and goodness radiating from the center of your chest, assisting
you in sharing your light with the rest of the world. The light
requires no object to shine upon, it is love itself, manifesting
itself as you.

Additional practices: Incorporate rose essential oil, which has been

shown to help reduce depression, anxiety, and stress. You could
also incorporate the use of rose quartz or roses themselves into
your prayer and practice. Yam chanting can also help to activate an
open and protected heart.

8
THE THROAT CHAKRA: VISUDDHA

This meditation can support creativity, artistic expression, and living

an authentic life by assisting you to express yourself on all levels.

Circulate your head and neck gently before settling into a

comfortable upright position. Close your mouth but soften your
jaw. Allow your bottom teeth to separate from your top teeth,
and relax the skin around your lips.

Bring your attention to your throat and neck, and visualize a

brilliant turquoise gem sitting in the center of this area. This gem
represents your true self and the magic you have to offer the
world. It contains the words you wish to share, the stories you
wish to tell, the art you wish to offer, and the music you wish to
play. It also serves as a link between your heart and your mind.
Breathe energy into the turquoise light in the center of your
throat, then exhale it through your nose or mouth.

9
THE THROAT CHAKRA: VISUDDHA

Imagine the blue light shining through your ears, assisting you in
listening to others and hearing your inner voice. Balancing this
chakra benefits all aspects of communication, from writing
effective and eloquent emails to having difficult conversations
with family members, to how you present your message through
paint, photography, or song.

As you concentrate on your throat chakra, imagine yourself

using your voice for good. Allow this practice to assist you in
making a positive contribution to the world that is unique and
authentic to you.

Additional practices: Humming, chanting, or singing can be very

beneficial to the throat chakra. Find music that speaks to you and
play or sing along with it. To further open your throat channel and
vocal chords, try chanting the sound Ham.

10
THE THIRD EYE CHAKRA: AJNA

This meditation aids in mental clarity, expanding your vision for the
future, and trusting your intuition. You can more easily break
through your limiting thought patterns and cultivate greater wisdom
and imagination by regularly meditating on your third eye.

Close your eyes comfortably while sitting or lying down. Bring

energy to the third eye point by raising your gaze to the space
between your brows. While the physical eyes are said to be
looking outward, the third eye is said to be looking inward.
Envision the color indigo or deep, royal blue as you direct your
attention to this energetic point.

Maintain soft, relaxed skin around your eyes. Draw your

attention back from the forehead to the mid-brain. Consider the
consciousness that sees through your eyes, and see if you can
catch glimpses of it between your ears. Allow thoughts to pass
through you like clouds, and return your awareness to the
midpoint of your brain. To stimulate the Ajna chakra from
beneath, press the tip of your tongue to the upper palate.

As you breathe in and out through your nose, keep your breath
smooth and steady.

Additional practices: Try this meditation in silence or while listening

to soft classical music, which has been shown to aid in mental clarity
and stress reduction.

11
THE CROWN CHAKRA:
SAHASRARA

This practice can assist you in connecting with your spiritual center.
Crown chakra meditations can help you feel more connected to the
oneness of all beings, which can help you overcome feelings of
isolation, heaviness, and hopelessness. When you're having trouble
connecting to the peace, love, and meaning you seek, try this
practice.

Sit in a comfortable position with your spine tall and regal. At the
top of your spine, imagine your head floating like a water lily.
Relax your jaw, neck, eyes, and brow. You could even tap a few
times on the crown of your head to stimulate and awaken the
crown chakra point.

Imagine an invisible lotus flower with a thousand petals in your

head. Invite it to reveal itself so that you can better understand
yourself and the Truth.

12
THE CROWN CHAKRA:
SAHASRARA

Imagine a purple light column extending from the center of your

head up into the sky. The purple light moves down and into your
body as you inhale, and up into the sky as you exhale. See the
light as Divine consciousness filling you up with each breath.
Each exhalation is an offering to Source.

Allow your awareness to settle on the point at the center of the

imaginary lotus when it feels natural, and thank your higher self
for revealing itself to you.

Additional practices: Gratitude can assist you in moving beyond your

thinking mind and into the spiritual realm. Using Amethyst, a purple
stone, while you meditate can also help to awaken your higher
centers.

13
