EXTREME PERSONALISM - Filipinos view the world in terms of personal relationship. - Because of this, the Filipino is uncomfortable with bureaucracy, with rules and regulations and with standard procedures. - Extreme personalism leads to the graft and corruption evident in Philippine society. - Filipinos tend to give personal interpersonal interpretation to actions take things personally. - There is in fact some basis for such interpretations as Filipinos are quite personal in criticism and praise. 3. LACK OF DISCIPLINE - A casual attitude toward time and space, manifest in lack of precision and compulsiveness, in poor time management and procrastination. - Impatience result in short cuts, palusot (this is where you can be labeled as “sa una lang magaling). 4. PASSIVITY AND LACK OF INITIATIVE - Waiting to be told what to do, reliance on others (leaders and government), complacence, lack of sense of urgency. - There is a high tolerance for inefficiency poor service and even violations of one’s basic rights. 5. COLONIAL MENTALITY - Lack of patriotism, or of an active awareness, appreciation and love of the Philippine and an actual preference for things that are foreign. 6. KANYA- KANYA- SYNDROME, TALANKA MENTALITY - Done by tsismis, intriga unconstructive criticism. - It is evident in the personal ambition that is completely insensitive to the common good. 7. LACK OF SELF- ANALYSIS AND SELF REFLECTION - The tendency to be superficial and somewhat flighty. - Satisfaction with superficial explanations and solutions. 8. EMPHASIS ON PORMA RATHER THAN SUBSTANCES - This lack of analysis is reinforcement by an educational system that is more form than substance.
