5. For every country, the change in the Y axis outpaced the change in the X axis, which
means that CO2 emissions increased at a steeper rate. Iraq experienced the most rapid
Y axis change in the 80s, and again in 2003. The other countries remained relatively
stable, with slow changes on the Y axis. There was a decrease in the US’s emissions in
2007.
6. Iraq’s emissions went up in the 80s due to the Iran-Iraq war as well as another steep
change when the Iraq-US war started in 2003.In 2007, there was a global financial crisis
that caused the emissions in the US to go down, and Iraq’s to go up as they tried to
rebuild from the war.
