1. A Study on Post-COVID'19 Revival of the Tourism Sector and its Impact on the
Airline Industry. (Qatar Airways)
1.1 LO-1: Project Plan/Proposal
1.1.1 Rationale
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on the global economy, and the tourism and airline
industries have been among the hardest hit. The tourism industry, which is a major source of income for
many countries and a major employer, has been brought to a standstill by the pandemic. The airline industry,
which is closely tied to the tourism sector, has also been greatly impacted, with many airlines having to
reduce their operations and even stop their services completely. (Nagraj, 2020)
Given the importance of these industries, it is crucial to understand the potential for their revival post-
pandemic and the impact this may have on the airline industry. The topic "A Study on Post-COVID'19
Revival of the Tourism Sector and its Impact on the Airline Industry" is therefore a relevant area of research.
This study can provide valuable insights into the economic and social factors that are driving the revival of
the tourism sector and the ways in which this revival is likely to impact the airline industry. For example, the
researcher may explore the impact of government policies, consumer confidence, and technological
advancements on the revival of the tourism sector. Additionally, the study can also examine the role of the
airline industry in supporting the revival of the tourism sector and the ways in which airlines can adapt to
changing consumer preferences and expectations. Furthermore, the findings of this research can inform
policy makers and provide them with evidence-based recommendations on how to support the revival of the
tourism sector and the airline industry. This is important as these industries play a critical role in the
economy and the livelihoods of millions of people.

1.1.2 Objectives
3
 To examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism sector and the airline industry.
 To identify the factors that are driving the revival of the tourism sector post-pandemic.
 To understand the role of the airline industry in supporting the revival of the tourism sector.
 To identify the challenges faced by the airline industry in adapting to the changing consumer
preferences and expectations post-pandemic.
 To assess the strategies for the revival of both the industries and their effectiveness.

1.1.3 Scope and Limitations

Scope:
 The research will examine the factors that are driving the revival of the tourism sector post-pandemic.
 The study will analyze the impact of the revival of the tourism sector on the airline industry.
 The research will understand the role of the airline industry in supporting the revival of the tourism
sector.
Limitations:
 The study may not capture the complete picture of the revival of the tourism sector and its impact on
the airline industry as the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and the full extent of its impact may
not be fully known.
 The study may be limited by the availability of data and information on the tourism sector and the
airline industry post-pandemic.
 The study may not account for other factors that may impact the revival of the tourism sector and the
airline industry such as economic conditions, political instability, and natural disasters.
 The study may not consider regional differences and variations in the revival of the tourism sector
and its impact on the airline industry.
 The researcher, being an undergraduate student may not have enough experience in conducting
research, which can impact the quality of the project and the ability to effectively analyze and
interpret information.
 The researcher may also face time-constraint due to the submission deadline that is in place.

1.1.4 Resources and cost-considerations

Resources:
 The researcher will need access to data on the tourism sector and the airline industry before, during
and, after the COVID-19 pandemic. This may include data from government agencies, industry
reports, financial statements, official websites of the airline company, reference materials, newspaper
articles, library access, employees working in the airline industry and other informational websites
and blogs on the internet.
 The researcher will need to use equipment, such as laptops or mobile devices, to collect and analyze
data.
 The researcher will also take the help of the assessor in case of queries and doubts.
Cost-considerations:

4
Not many costs will be incurred as there will not be any external parties such as professionals to assist with
the data analysis.
