How are these certificates
checked?
All certificates can be presented either
digitally or in printed form in combination
with an official photo ID. In addition, the
already existing ‘3 G’ certificates are still valid
in Austria.
These certificates are checked, for example, in
restaurants, cinemas, gyms or at the borders. The
verifying authority scans the EU-compliant QR code
and receives information via Web App whether a valid
certificate is available.

What is the Green Pass?
Austria is opening up, but safely!
The 3 Green Pass certificates, along with the COVID-
19 vaccine, represent another important step towards
normality. They stand for simple, safe and verifiable
proof of who has been vaccinated, tested negative
or recovered from a past infection with COVID-19.
When entering the theatre, the gym or the pub, the
respective certificates or proofs (‘3 G’ rule - Geimpft/
vaccinated, Getestet/tested negative, Genesen/
recovered) are checked for current validity.
In addition to the already existing ‘3 G’ proofs
3 certificates with EU-compliant QR codes will
become valid in the course of June.

As of July 2021, the certificates with
EU-compliant QR codes will also allow more
freedom of travel again. They are valid in the
EU, EEA countries and in Switzerland. You can

How can I access
my certificates?
I have been vaccinated.
Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 with a vaccine
approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is
a prerequisite for the vaccination certificate.
The vaccination certificate
• is available at gesundheit.gv.at using the mobile
phone signature or citizen's card.
• It can also be issued by registered doctors and
pharmacies and
• printed out free of charge via some municipalities,
district administrative authorities, at ELGA (Austrian
Electronic Healthcare Record) ombudsman offices
and customer service points of the Austrian
Healthcare Insurance (ÖGK).
I have recently been tested.
A negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 (e.g. at a test
centre, pharmacy, etc.) is a prerequisite for the test
certificate.
The test certificate
• can be obtained via e-mail / SMS.
• It is also available at gesundheit.gv.at using the
mobile phone signature or citizen's card.
• It can be printed out free of charge directly at
a test centre, or also via some municipalities,
district administrative authorities, or at ELGA
ombudsman offices.
I am a recovered person.
A survived SARS-CoV-2 infection is a prerequisite for
the certificate of recovery.
The certificate of recovery
• is available at gesundheit.gv.at using the mobile
phone signature or citizen's card.
• It can be accessed by those persons who have
been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and have been
registered in Austria in the EMS (Epidemiological
Reporting System) on the basis of a PCR test.
• It can also be printed out free of charge via some
municipalities, district administrative authorities,
or at ELGA ombudsman offices.
