Why is hygiene important?


Infectious diseases can spread to another by contaminated hands. Washing hands properly helps
prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses that cause these diseases. You should wash your
hands thoroughly:
-> after using the toilet
-> after working in the garden
-> before and after a meal
-> after playing with animals
-> after handling rubbish
-> whenever you come home
Here are some tips to washing hands:
-> Apply soap and lather well for at least 20 seconds.
-> Scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers and under your fingernails.
-> Remove rings and watches before you wash your hand.
-> Dry hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

One day a young man met the Sun, the Frost and the Wind. He said, "Praise be to you," and walked
on. The Sun, the Frost and the Wind started arguing who the greeting was for. The Sun said, "To
me, that I might not burn him." The Frost said, "To me, for he is more afraid of me." The Wind said,
"Both of you are wrong. He presented the greeting to me." They began quarrelling and fighting
bitterly. Finally, the Wind said, "Let us find him and ask him." They overtook the man and asked
him whom the greeting was for.
The man replied, "For the Wind." The enraged Sun said to the man, "Foolish man! I shall remember
this insult. I will bake you in the heat."
"And will I freeze you up!" said the Frost.
The Wind looked kindly at the frightened man and said, "Don't worry, young man. The Sun will
never bake you, for I shall blow and cool him down. The Frost can do nothing to you because he
can't freeze you without a wind."
