 DRUM PAD

Drum pad is a practice pad, sometimes referred as a drum pas, is used by

drummers to quietly warm-up before a performance.
The first electronic drum which uses drum pad was created in the early
1970s by Graeme Edge, drummer of The Moody Blues.
Besides that, the first commercial electronic drum was the Pollard Syndrum,
released by Pollard Industries in 1976. It consisted of an electric sound
generator and one or more drum pads.
After the invention of electronic drum, a drum pad without connection to
electric is used to practice with a silent voice. In addition, drummers in rock
bands and orchestra bands use drum pad to practice before rehearsals and
shows.
A drum pad could provide the same feelings of hitting on drum, it still makes
sure the silent voice will not affect and disrupt the surrounding and peoples.
The drum pad is made by 3 layers which are
High density and elastic rubber
High-density compressed wood
EVA polymer mat

The product of drum pad is a combination of 3 layers of structures and

materials. The elastic rubber is built to provide a response that is much like
the real skin experience. It ensures that drummer will have a better feeling
and grasp on real drum kit.

Secondly, the high-density compressed wood is used as the fundamental of

the combination of materials. It is strong and hard enough to ensure the
drum pad will not get spoiled easily when the drummer hits too hard or
using it in long term of period.

Last but not least, the polymer mat is the best material to act as the base of
drum pad. It is soft so it could absorb the impulsive force from the
drumsticks when a drummer hits the drum pad.

Drum pad is used to hit by drumstick. Drummer
hit it with drumsticks to practice daily. A drum
pad will not produce loud hitting sound to the
surrounding. A drum pad allows the drummers to
strengthen their fundamentals.
Drum pad stand is used to support the drum pad.
The drum pad stand could stabilize the drum pad
while drummer is hitting the drum.

Drumsticks is used to hit the drum pad, acoustic

drum set and also electronic drum sets. A
drumstick could be played by the drummer by
hitting drums to produce different types of
sounds.
SETUP OF DRUM PAD
1. Prepare drum pad, drum pad stands and drumsticks.
2. Place the drum pad stands to a suitable height and position by
adjusting the screws.
3. Apply the drum pad on the drum pad stand by twisting it until it is tight.
4. Starts to practice by hitting it with drumsticks.

HOW TO USE DRUMSTICKS

There is two ways to hold the drumsticks. Traditional holding way is more
to snare drum while matched holding way is more to the whole drum set.

More accuracy to snare drum
Easier holding way in long-term period of practicing and presenting

Controlling whole drum set and beats with beats with high coordinate
Easier to control accents and ghost note
WAYS TO TAKE CARE DRUM PAD
Place the drum pad into the box or cover it with a drum pad cover
Gently place it on drum pad stand until it is stable before playing
Wipe of the dust and clean the surface of drum pad before storing it
into box or cover

HOW TO PLAY DRUM PAD

Hold tight with the correct fingering
Hit the drum pad according to the speed of beat and time signature
Aware to accent and ghost notes by controlling the strength of hitting
drum pad

CONCLUSION
Drum pad is a tool to assist drummer to be expert in hitting the drum set.
Before using electronic or acoustic drum sets, a drum pad could manage
to assist drummer to warm up and perform well with extreme status.
