SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT OPERATION MANUAL FOR M/S. MACCAFERRI ENVIROMENTAL SOLUTION PVT.LTD. D-40, MIDC RANJANGAON TAL. SHIRUR DIST: PUNE-412220 Prepared by: ge: M/s. SKY LAB ANALYTICAL LABORATORY CHINTAMANI SMRUTI APT. 15" FLOOR, OPP.GAJANAN MAHARAJ MANDIR, NEAR PHADAKE HOSPITAL, PARNAKA, KALYAN (WV). ‘3 0251-2027010 & 0251- 2234858 MOB - 9867577310, 9820386785, 9867577309, Web: www.skylabenviro.com , E-mail: mails@skylabenviro.com EXSY Te ey eer es kororsy 3 kaka yaks yoko ee coger ee) e INTRODUCTION e WORKING e¢ CHEMICAL DOSE PREPARATION e STP OPERATION STEPS e REACTION MECHANISM e IMPORTANTS e FLOW SHEET DIAGRAM e ANALYSIS REPORT e ANNEXURE INTRODUCTION The Maximum quantity of sewage water of the unit is 2.5 M®* Designed capacity of STP is 3.5 m3. The entire sewage water of M/s Meccaferri environmental solution pvt Itd undergoes various treatment processes. Effective chemicals are also provided with their required concentration for treatment. Tn addition to this units like, 1. Sequential batch reactor 2. Oil & grease trapper 3. Aeration systems 4. Sludge dewatering system. 5. Multimedia filter system 6. Backwash system The STP is designed in such a manner that it will give above 90% efficiency results & the water treated in the final stage shall have the quality that it will fulfill purpose. i.e 1. Maintain the quality of outlet water within the MPCB prescribed norms. 2. The treated water is useful for gardening or other use ( Except Drinking) EEE ee ee ee kk ke ee RRO eee oe a eee eRe ek) WORKING The sewage coming from the unit after screening is collected in holding tank. After filling the tank dosing of chemicals FeSo4, caustic soda, and polyelectrolyte is done. The sewage is pumped to sequential batch reactor (SBR).Sewage stream enter the tank through oil & grease trapper. Here reaction like equalization, neutralization, coagulation, flocculation, settling, and aeration are carried out. The sludge formed is settle in bottom (cone) of SBR, is send to sludge dewatering system. Sludge is collected in filter bags and water drained is collected in primary treatment tank. Primary treated water is passed through multimedia pressure filter. The system suck the suspended particles and foreign matter. By adjusting valve, the water is allowed to go to final treated water tank. CASES Eee Eee eee doko eo ees kod 2) CHEMICAL DOSE PREPARATION 1. Caustic solution (10%) The solution is prepared by mixing 200gms of caustic flakes in 2lit of water. 2. Ferrous sulphate ( FeSo4) solution (10% ) The solution is prepared by mixing 200gms of FeSo4 in 2lit.water. 3. Polyelectrolyte Solution (0.5% ) Dissolve 5gms of polyelectrolyte in 1lit water. 4. pH paper/ pH meter for checking pH. ray SESE) STP OPERATION - Check the pH of raw sewage in a holding tank. . Dose the chemicals in holding tank. - Start pump, blower & start operation system. . Adjust pH=7 (neutral) if necessary add chemicals. . Stop the pump when sewage touches the marking . Remove oil & grease if any. . Stop operation after 4 hours. - On next day, drain out the sludge in a special filter bag provided to sludge dewatering system. . Open the middle valve of SBR & collect treated sewage in primary treated tank. 10. Allow the primary treated water to multimedia pressure filter system by starting pressure pump. 11. Adjust the outlet valve and pass finally treated water to outlet tank. REACTION & MECH: 1. Screening The I" unit operation generally encountered in waste water treatment plant is screening .the primary role of screening is to Temove coarse materials from the flow stream that could ° Damage subsequent process equipments © Reduce overall treatment process reliability and effectiveness. * Contaminate water ways 2. Flocculation The purpose of flocculation is to form aggregate from finely divided particles and from chemically destabilized particles. It is transparent step that brings about collision between the destabilized particles needed to form large particles that can be removed by settling or filtration. 3. Coagulation This includes all the reaction and mechanisms involved in the chemical destabilization of the particles and in the formation of larger particles through flocculation. 4. Settling Settling is used for removed of grid, suspended solid in primary basis. Biological flock removal in the activated sludge basin and chemical flock removal when the chemical coagulation is used. 5. Equalization It is a method used to overcome the operational problem caused by flow rate variation to improve the performance of the downstream process and to reduce the size and cost of downstream treated facility. 6. Aeration A blower of adequate capacity is provided at the top of SBR for aeration purpose. The aeration helps in dissolving more and more oxygen and mixing the dose chemicals properly. IMPORTANTS *& Try to maintain pH 7 i.e. neutral mostly. + Dose extra chemicals if necessary. Remove oil and grease collected in oil trapper. If any, regularly. “+ Remove sludge after a week time of interval regularly and collect ata particular place. “+ Water sample for testing is drawn only by opening the sample valve provided to the outlet of multimedia pressure filter system. & Keep record of = pH inlet / outlet = sewage quantity treated daily ™ Keep dosing chemicals at a dry place. % Take safety precautions while handling. % Attach MSDS sheet at the plant. = Measure the percentage efficiency of the treatment frequently fo fs S| fe ba tS tay fe Hd re SOS De ESxe ee yee ee yee goee roy) vung sean panean, onemac, ape, Son engage) eas ANALYSIS REPORT DATE OF COLLECTION: 08/10/2012 LOCATION STP INLET | STP OUTLET [pH 7.46 719 TSS 193 9 CoD 104 32 BOD 70 10 SEA Ee EASE Eee S Ree Re ROR ee OR OREO eae Eee) A SASRE ASE SSMS Ree eee ANNEXURE This manual is written primarily for the general guidance of the operator. It is intended to give the basic principle of the equipment he is Operating of process / the metabolism occurring in the various systems and the normal operative procedure that is necessary to keep the plant in working condition. It should be mentioned here that, for the long life proper working and yielding satisfactory results from any sewage treatment plants. Good housekeeping proper maintenance in the form of lubrications oiling, greasing periodic painting and keeping the plant in operation for 24 hours, 365 days are quite essential and necessary. Without these factor it should be difficult to ensure that the plant is functioning properly.
