Choice of topics and statement

We would like you to choose a topic that fits the following criteria:

- A topic that is up to date. A topic that is considered a current affair.

- The topic is of international importance. Think of elections in important countries,
humanitarian debates, racism, etc.

Statement

When forming a statement, please remember you are not creating a question. Your
statement should, possibly, already indicate your position in the debate. It should also
encourage the observer to compete in debate. An example:

‘’The current United States President should not be re-elected at the next election’’. Or,
‘’The law should stop the police service from carrying firearms’’.

Ai’s biggest problems:

deepfake porn is devastateting, ai deepfake scams that are going around, it can fake a autographs, it
steals art from artists, it takes jobs from working people, deepfake political statements

Ai is good because it costs less money:

Argument:

Ai is taking over a lot of tasks that humans are meant to do because of this people are
getting very lazy. For example the houses getting printed by ai. In the future there might not
be enough builders that build houses because ai will do that for them. A consequence of
that is that if there is a malfunction in the house there won’t be builders around to help you.
Also if students keep using ai for essays or projects they wont be motivated and their
productivity will be decreased. Another consequence of that is that later when those same
students who used ai for all their projects graduate they might not be well educated and
people like doctors might not be well educated witch is a big problem. So in conclusion ai
should not be used too much of people will get very lazy.

The debate:

Chris the leader of the pro group explained why they where for ai. They are for ai because
they think its very efficient. After that the four arguments where said. They talked about info
being stored easily then about being able to communicate in other languages, then the juries
asked questions. After that we asked some questions. Then it was our turn. Rick presented the
problems and then it was jasper’s turn and he started talking about how ai could get out of
control. Fien talked about job loss and Sam talked about deepfake and fake news and then I
talked about people getting lazy because ai was taking over human tasks. The jury and the
other team asked some questions but we had good answers. Then it was time to vote and i
heard most people say the where voting for our team.
