News Paper / Journal Article

1. Find a newspaper or magazine article that contains one or more of the

following terms or graphs: mean, average, median, mode, histogram, box‐
plot, stem plot, pie chart or bar chart.

2. Write an evaluation of the article or story. Was the statistic used correctly?
Is the graph an appropriate graph? Was the sample design a good one? Is
there bias in the sample and if so what are the possible sources? The
evaluation of the article should be no more than one page double‐spaced.

3. Turn in the evaluation of the article along with the article itself.. All
evaluations will be submitted via Moodle. Be sure that if you turn in a paper
copy of the article that your name is on it. You may use online articles as a
source as long as you provide the link to the article.
