New ConRoast smelter Braemore Resources (AIM: BRR, JSE: BRE) has released platinum group metal (PGM) production figures for the first period of operation for its 3,2 MW a iS smelter at the Mintek facility. Since being commissioned in September 2008, the enlarged smelter has produced 5 971 ounces of PGMs. he company has achieved a recovery rate ‘of 99,52% from the high- chrome content PGM com centrate feed. A further 50% ‘expansion of the current smelter capacity is underway to address increased demand for the technology. Since Cctober 2007, hhas successfully treated low- PGM content, high-chrome other smelter feed per month and producing PGMs in an inon-nickel alloy at arate of up te 70 000 ounces per year, de- pending on the feed grade. The smelter bas been ramping up to capacity since October 2008 and has produced a total of 5 971 02 of PGMs since restart- ing smelter operations.
