Yes I agree with the statement. Due to following reasons agriculture sector
appears to be adversely affected by the reforms for process:
● Public investment in agriculture sector especially in infrastructure
which includes irrigation, ppower, roads, market linkages and research
and extension has been reduced in the Reform period.
● The removal of fertilizers subsidy has led to increase in the cost of
production which has severely affected the small and marginal
farmers.
● Where is changes in policies like reduction in import duties on
agriculture products, removal of minimum support price and lifting of
quantitative restriction on agriculture products have increased the
threat of international competition in the Indian farmers.
