UNIT 2: You recently went to a show performed by a number of different clubs at school. Write a
blog post about it.
OUTLINE
Paragraph 1: the time, the place and the clubs
Paragraph 2: the attendees and their reactions
Paragraph 3: your opinions
Paragraph 4: suggested an improvement
I just attended a Club Day festival of my school on Sunday, October 20th. My close friend and I arrived at
school at 7:00 am. The event took place in the school hall.
Many other students from my school, as well as their parents, also participated in the event. There were 50
stalls, each of which represented a club. The club teachers and students introduced the activities of their
clubs to the visitors. Most of the parents were excited to learn about the extracurricular events of the school.
In my opinion, the astronomy club, drama club and football club attracted our interest. My friend was
extremely excited to learn about the cosmos and telescope operation. I particularly enjoyed the performance
of the drama club. It was the play named Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare. We stayed till
the end to watch a friendly match between the members of the football club.
The event was a great success. However, I wished there had been more air conditioners because the weather
was quite hot at that time. Besides, it would be perfect if there were more activities on stage to make the
atmosphere more exciting.
UNIT 3: Some people believe that doing sport at school is a distraction from more important work.
Write an essay in which you give your opinion about this issue and propose ways for students to do
more sports at school without causing problems for their studies.
Opinion: Sports are important for overall health and success, and should not be seen as a distraction from
academic work. Playing sports is not only a fun way for students to stay active, but it can also be helpful for
academic growth.
Physical and mental benefits of playing sports
Sports require hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. These factors help students to excel in the classroom and
on the playground. According to researchers, most students have played multiple sports throughout high
school, and have learned to handle the study workload before entering university. Playing sports helps
students build their self-confidence, set realistic goals, and the ability to overcome obstacles in their future
life.
Proposed solutions
+ Offer sports clubs or teams during lunch breaks or after school hours, so students can participate without
missing class time.
+ Incorporate physical activity into existing classes, such as doing quick stretches or exercises between
lessons.
 Students have stress issues between workouts and study hours, so they need to manage their time
effectively by establishing good relationships with teachers and other students and making good use of time
in classrooms.

Write an essay about the problem that teenagers don’t get enough exercise and offer measures to solve
the problem. Use the outline and the prompts below.

- a decline in physical activity among teenagers / now only 20% of children in our country are meeting
the recommendation.
Paragraph 2: Reasons for the problem, and the general measure
- change the way children use screen time because many children have become addicted to computers,
tablets, and mobile phones
- encourage children to use their gadgets and apps in a positive way / use trackers to limit the time spent
on the screen
Paragraph 3: The first measure
- support and encouragement from family members / a really important factor in increasing children’s
activity levels
-in other words / family members / set a good example of how to live an active life for children
Paragraph 4: The second measure
- getting outdoors / a great way to get children to see the benefits of being fit and healthy
- this / include visits to green spaces, parks, playgrounds, walks, and cycle tracks as part of your
everyday family life

Paragraph 5: Concluding

- small changes / a big impact on children’s health and well-being
