Business and Social Impact Plans Mission Statement: GRI Coop Rural Bazaar will be an eye opener for the students of cooperation to understand the coneept of cooperation and to learn the nuances of cooperative business enterprise. The mission is to reduce the gap] between the producers and consumers by ensuring remunerative price to the producers and charging nominal price to the consumers. What is the current social issue(s) that your Coop is trying to solve? ‘The student community particularly the students of cooperation will be aware of the concept of cooperation. The student community will be motivated to initiate ‘startup cooperative entrepreneurial activities’. They| will also come to know the intricacies of a business venture. They will familiarize with purchase] procurement, stock, distribution, funds management, customer handling, etc practically. Initially the GRY Coop Rural Bazaar’s area of operation will be restricted to Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, India. The district] spread over an area of 6300 Squire Kilo Meters. The district grows plantation crops and fruits, vegetables] spices, flowers and medicinal crops. To some extend its grows rice and millets also. The GRI Coop Rural] Bazaar may try to procure from the farmers and sell through the primary cooperatives in the village level] fair price shops of Public Distribution System and Self Help Groups. This activity would help bridging the supply and demand for these items in the rural area and towns in the district. Describe your Coop’s value proposition. The GRI Coop Rural Bazaar will be a subsidiary of The GRI Staff and Students Cooperative Consume: Stores Ltd. This start-up cooperative enterprise is proposed to run on a technology platform, that is, Mobile| Application namely “Coop Bazaar”. The target customers in the district will be introduced the mobile application and enticed to use it extensively, ‘The requirement of the target customers will be assessed through this application and the items required will be delivered at their door steps. Products and Services Initially the GRI Coop Rural Bazaar will focus on purchase and sale of cooperative products of Tamil Nadu state, The product would include dairy products of Aavin, handloom products of Co-optex, tea products o! INDCOSERVE, masala products of Mangalam Masala, oil products of Arthanaresswara and honey of Marthandam Honey, spices from tribal coops of Kolli hills and other grocessry items from consumer cooperative wholesale stores. The farmers produces namely vegetables, fruits, millets,etc., will be procures through primary cooperatives, Self Help Groups, etc and will be marketed. By this process the requirements of the customers will be met at a nominal cost at their door steps and paid| remunerative price to the farmers. The concept of “farm gate to fork" will be tried to implement in the selected] district through this GRI Coop Rural Bazaar. Since the business venture is through mobile application and delivered at the door step, there is a great scope for future growth. Out of which 150 students are| specializing in cooperation as their major course. Out of the total student community 60 per cent of them} are girls. Further, 80per cent of the students are from rural areas. ‘The students specializing cooperation as the major course will be in forefront and lead the GRI Coop Rural Bazaar. Over a period the GRI Coop Rural Bazaar shall be replicated in the other districts of Tamil Nadu probably| this may be replicated in the other states also as GRI has students from all over the country. As getting a job is a remote chance for the student community, the students may be enticed to become| entrepreneurs. They may be motivated to start this kind of businesses under the cooperative fold. What are your Target Cover the GRI Campus in the first year Second year the business will be extended to cover 50 villages around the GRI Campus. Stage IT Within next two years this will initiative to cover the remaining places of Dindigul District. The faculty members will guide, monitor and suggest future course of action for business expansion and development. The faculty will also provide innovative ideas and strategic plan for the sustainability of the Coop Bazaar. The students will be exposed to different start-up businesses to gain lessons for business development. On the whole, the GRI Coop Rural Bazaar will give a lot of business experience. This will be an impetus to the sstudent community at large and students of cooperation in particular to venture into innovative and futuristic entrepreneurial activities.
