2-4 Self-Assessments and Career Planning 

Complete a self-assessment about your career interests and/or your personal traits.
Start with the O*Net Interest Profiler, a self-assessment tool, by visiting
www.mynextmove.org and clicking the “Start” button in the “Tell us what you like to
do” box. You can also explore your state’s employment website. Consider using the free
online version of the mini Myers-Briggs Type Indicator quiz and/or the Keirsey
Temperament Sorter. (Your school’s career center may have a license for self-
assessments that require a fee.)

List at least two things you discovered after taking a self-assessment.

O*Net assisted me in career exploration. It helped and led me to explore and identify a
career that satisfies my interest and personality. In addition, this gives me opportunity
to compare different careers before making a decision about which one that I can
pursue as potential profession. My career that fit my interest is Network & Computer
Systems Administrators.

Explain why your career choice is a good match with your personality and interests.

My career choice is a good match with my personality and interests because after
carefully filling up each question about each type of work (strongly like, like, unsure,
dislike, and strongly dislike) O*Net showed me the careers that meet my interests. It
was great to find that my career preferred matches with interest and personality test. I
think that can lead to job satisfaction and success on my career. I can make a good
decision right now about my career and find a job of my needs.
