Département Informatique Sujet de Master Intitulé du sujet Fully Attention Convolutional Deep Neural Networks for Polyp Segmentation from Histological Images and/or Colonoscopy Video Problématique Segmentation is an essential enabling technology for medical image analysis with a great variety of methods. Analysis of colonoscopy images, including polyp segmentation, is a challenging problem because of intrinsic image appearance and polyp morphology variabilities. Polyp characteristics change at different development stages, with evolving polyp shape, size, and appearance. Automated tissue segmentation can be useful for two of the most relevant clinical target applications—lesion detection and classification, thereby providing important means to make both processes more accurate and robust. To automate video colonoscopy analysis, computer vision and machine learning methods have been utilized and shown to enhance polyp detectability and segmentation objectivity. It is therefore essential to improve analysis of colonoscopy images to ensure more robust and accurate polyp characterization, as it can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer and healthcare costs. With new advanced machine learning (ML) methodologies, it is conceivable to significantly increase the robustness and effectiveness of CRC screening. For that we suggest developing new strategies based on deep learning models for the segmentation of polyps from colonoscopy images or videos such as CNN, Transfer Learning, LSTM, Transformers as well as object detection method YOLO v7 or higher. Objectif The objective of this Master 2 subject is to develop and applied deep learning models based on attention model which will be designed and dedicated for segmentation of polyps in colonoscopy images o videos. This paper describes Dilated ResFCN, a deep fully convolutional neural network, designed specifically for segmentation of polyps in colonoscopy images. The main objective has been to propose a suitable validation framework and evaluate the performance of that network. These models must be compared and validated to different against other benchmark methods such as FCN8s or ResFCN in order to shown that suitably selected dilation kernels can significantly improve the performance of polyp segmentation on multiple evaluation metrics.
