How can we save Earth’s resources?
When we conserve something, we save
it for use in the future. We can help to
conserve Earth’s resources. There are three
Rs you can remember to help save resources.
They are reduce, reuse, and recycle.

you use something.

EVALUATEWhere does wool come from? Many
people all over the world use sheep or
goats to get wool. Some people get
wool from other animals. Scientists at
the American Museum of Natural History
collect letters from people around the
world. The scientists learn how people in peru is a country in

Have you seen people wearing
rings or earrings with colorful
stones in them? Many of these
stones are called gems. Gemologists
are scientists who study gems.
Gems are hard and rare minerals
that are known for their beauty.
Sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds
are examples of gems.
The job of a gemologist is to
identify a gem and to find out its
quality and value. Gemologists use
special tools to identify gems and
see if they have cracks in them.
