Assessment task: Major Essay

Details of Task:
One of the biggest issues that Asia is facing is an ageing population. Some Asian
countries are already having to deal with this problem, while others could face
significant challenges with regards to their economic growth in the near future. How can
Asian economies overcome an ageing population? What opportunities are there for
businesses? Discuss with the use of theory and real life examples.

For this assignment you are require to discuss about 2 Asian countries the first country
will be about an Asian country that is facing aging population currently while the
second will talk about country that might face aging population in the future.

Word limit: 2250+/- 10%
Presentation requirements: Refer to the Q-Manual for presentation requirement for an
academic essay. A minimum of 5 peer-reviewed academic journal articles must be
utilised as references to develop and substantiate arguments presented in the essay.

Estimated return date: Week 5

Criteria for marking: Please refer to the ECX3550 Moodle site for the marking rubric. This
will also be explained in class.

Where an examiner feels it necessary a student may be required to explain their paper,
in order to validate its originality and demonstrate the source of references sighted.
Learning objectives assessed: This assessment task is designed to test your achievement
of learning objectives 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Submission details: Submission is to be made via the Turnitin link on the unit's Moodle
site.

Penalties for late lodgement: A maximum penalty of 10% of the total mark allocated to
this assessment would be deducted for each day the assessment is late. Please note that
the weekend is considered as two days in determining the penalty for late submission.

In the case of group assessment, each member of the group must complete and sign a
separate assessment coversheet. Assessment lodged electronically must be sent via a
valid student email account (i.e. name@student.monash.edu) and must include an
electronic copy (or copies in the case of group assessment) of the Assessment Cover
Sheet. Electronic lodgement from any other email addresses will not be accepted.
