SCHOOL WORKS TO IMPROVE READING WITH ‘CATCH – UP FRIDAY’

PROGRAM

Mr. Rodriguez, a school leader, talked about a program called “Catch – Up Friday” on
a morning talk. The program helps kids get better at reading. It’s supposed to help kids who
find reading hard and give them a chance to catch up on what they missed. But fewer kids are
joining in than before.

The interviewer asked why fewer kids are joining “Catch – Up Friday.” Mr.
Rodriguez said one big reason is that not all kids and parents know what it’s about. They tried
to tell everyone through letters, meetings, and announcements, but it didn’t work well.

The interviewer asked if they’re doing anything to fix it. Mr. Rodriguez said yes.
They’re trying to talk to parents and kids directly. They’ll send special messages to remind
them about “Catch – Up Friday” and why it’s important.

The interviewer asked if there are other problems. Mr. Rodriguez said yes. Some kids
don’t feel excited about “Catch – Up Friday” because they don’t see why it’s helpful. To fix
this, they’ll make the sessions more fun and interesting.

In the end, the interviewer thanked Mr. Rodriguez for sharing. They agreed that better
communication and making kids excited are important. They wished the school luck in
making “Catch – Up Friday” better for everyone. Mr. Rodriguez said they’re committed to
making things better for the kids.
