It is essential to evaluate information and its source. The following criteria are useful in examining
information from a book, a magazine, on a website, or social media. There is no organization or editorial
process that oversees the Internet to ensure accuracy, objectivity, or currency. For this reason, it is
especially important to evaluate information on the Internet.
1. Accuracy: The reliability, truthfulness, and correctness of the content.
2. Authority: The source of the information
3. Relevance: The importance of the information for your needs
4. Currency: The timeliness of the information
5. Purpose: The reason the information exists.

To verify information taken from the different sources, take into consideration the following:
Skills in determining the reliability of information.
1. What are the different types of media that can be used as a source of information?
2. Check the author Check the date of publication or of update
3. Check for citations Check the domain or owner of the site or page
4. Check the site design and the writing style
Skills in determining accurate information.

LTFRB approves P1 provisional jeepney fare hike by October 8

 MANILA, Philippines — Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on
Tuesday approved a P1 provisional jeepney fare increase nationwide.The minimum fare for traditional
jeepneys will be adjusted from P12 to P13. For modern jeepneys, the fare will go up from P14 to
P15.The adjustments will be effective on Sunday, October 8, for both traditional and modern jeepneys.
LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz III said provisional increase is temporary. Meaning, it will last only until the
main petition for a permanent increase is resolved. “Because there were already 11 price increase(s),
itong binigay namin ay, in my words, pantawid lamang po ito habang nililitis namin ‘yung kanilang
kahilingan, which would be the permanent increase,” Guadiz told reporters after the hearing on the
matter. (Because there were already 11 price increases, what we gave was, in my words, it’s just
bridging the gap while we are hearing their request, which would be the permanent increase.)Guadiz
added the implementation period of the provisional increase will be under the prerogative of LTFRB.No
new fare matrixes will be enforced. The increase will only affect the base fare, and not the succeeding
kilometers.
