Peedikayil & Manthiri,(2018). Employees are influenced by cultural artefacts like rituals, legends and
ceremonies that are the main components of organisational culture. Since organisational culture is
closely linked to organisational performance
Organizational culture represents the collective values, beliefs, and behaviours that shape the
interactions and work approaches of individuals within a company. It acts as an invisible force,
guiding decision-making processes, communication strategies, and the overall ethos of an
organization. A robust organizational culture aligns with the mission and goals of the company,
establishing a sense of purpose and identity among its members.
Employee engagement and Organizational culture are intertwined and shape an organization's
identity. When aligned with employees' personal values, a sense of belonging and engagement is
fostered. This connection is like a dance, where authority, autonomy, clear communication,
leadership and recognition play an important role. Employees contribute their talents, become the
beacon of culture and contribute to organizational success. The link between organizational culture
and employee engagement can discuss as flows.
Sense of Belonging:
A positive and inclusive culture creates a sense of belonging among employees. When people feel
like they are an integral part of something bigger than themselves, they are more likely to be
involved and invested in the organization's success.
Clear Communication:
Open and transparent communication is the cornerstone of a positive corporate culture. When
communication channels are clear and information is shared instantly, employees feel valued and
informed which leads to greater engagement.
The leadership style and values upheld by an organization significantly impact employee
engagement. When leaders embody the values of the organization and demonstrate a commitment
to ethical practices, employees are more likely to be motivated and inspired.
An organizational culture that values and recognizes the contributions of its employees promotes a
positive work environment. Feeling appreciated and acknowledged for their efforts encourages
employees to go above and beyond, enhancing overall engagement levels.
Clearly articulate and communicate the core values that define your organization. Ensure that these
values align with the mission and goals, creating a strong foundation for a positive culture.
Leadership Development:
Invest in leadership development programs that emphasize the importance of fostering a positive
culture. Leaders set the tone for the entire organization and their commitment to cultural initiatives
is critical.
Employee Involvement:
Actively involve employees in the development and evolution of the organizational culture. Solicit
feedback, encourage collaboration, and create opportunities for employees to contribute to the
cultural fabric of the company.
Provide training programs that reinforce desired cultural attributes. This includes workshops on
communication, teamwork and values alignment to ensure employees understand and embrace the
culture.
Finally, the impact of organizational culture on employee engagement is profound and multifaceted.
By fostering a positive and inclusive culture, organizations can create an environment where they
can perform at their best, motivated, connected and inspired. Recognizing the symbiotic relationship
between culture and engagement is an important step for businesses looking to thrive in today's
competitive environment.
