Group Discussion Expectations
Inner Circle
You will be allowed to have your
preparation in front of you during this
discussion.
You must speak at least 3 times and have
evidence and analysis to back up your
statements. Your analysis will be graded
as basic-level, medium-level or high-
level analysis.
 Points differ for each category.

You MUST have text evidence to back up
your ideas and points on the topic.
You may ask students questions.
However, this can only count as ONE of
the times that you speak.
You will be respectful to other students
or else you will be taken out of the
discussion regardless of whether you
have received your full points.
Outer Circle
While you are in the outer circle, you will
be writing at least 10 notes, comments or
questions that you have about what
other students are saying.
You will be absolutely silent when in the
outer circle or when someone else is
speaking.
You should not have your cell phone out
at any point of your summative.
You should be on task at all times and
focused on the conversation.
You will be respectful to other students
or else you will be taken out of the
discussion regardless of whether you
have received your full points.
