Journey

I and my grandmother’s journey to the Johannesburg Art Gallery (JAG), was fascinating
because of the abrupt change in environment. Commuting from the south of Johannesburg,
a calm and peaceful place to, the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg CBD is such a harsh
transition, most especially if your form of transportation is a taxi.

The Johannesburg Art Gallery is in Joubert Park. Therefore, due to Noord Taxi Rank being a
destination point, personal safety is a prime concern due to the aggressive nature of taxi
drivers on the road, the congestion of commuters and the large number of streets venders
on sidewalks making it almost impossible to complete the last leg of the journey to Joubert
Park. The location and the historic architecture make this building intimidating to unlike
Noord the galley is more calm and peaceful most especially of a person is used to a chaotic
environment . the galley is very spacious which a juxtaposition to the crowed surroundings.
The jag is 104 year old building with ten thousand art pieces .
