Whereas
Directive No. 882 /2022
\SED DIRECTIVE TO PROVIDE FOR THE PREVEN-
a, ithas become necessary to revise the prohibited activites
and duties to be imposed on individuals to prevent and mitigate the
impact of COVID-19 provided under Directive No 803/2022 based
oon the current situation of the
pandemic and provision of COVID-19
vaccination freely by the government.
WHEREAS, it has become necessary to issue new Directive that
will reduce economic, social, and psychological stress on the com-
unity and that focus on effective prevention measures by taking les-
«sons from the implementation of the former precautionary measures,
NOW, THEREFORE, this Directive is issued by the Ethiopian Pub-
lic Health Institute in accordance with Article 72 (2) of the Food and
Medicine Administration Proclamation No. 1112/2019, Article $5(3)
of the Food, Medicine, and Healthcare Administration and Control
Proclamation No. 661/2009, and Article 98 of the Council of Minis-
ters Regulation on Food, Medicine, and Healthcare Administration
and Control No, 299/2013.
Short Title
This Directive may be cited as the “An amended Directive to
provide on Prohibited Activities and Imposed Duties for the
Prevention and Control of COVID-19 Pandemic No 882/2022".
Definition
In this Directive, unless the context requires otherwise:
1. “COVID-19” means the communicable disease designated

“Self-test” means Antigen-based rapid diagnostic test
which can be performed by the patient at any place or time
to rapidly identify COIVD-19 test result.
“COVID-19 symptoms” means any symptoms manifested
by a person with COVID-19 including fever, headache,
cough, loss of taste and smell, throat pain, and similar other
symptoms;
10. “COVID-19 positive “means any person whose COVID-

4. General Prohibited Activities and Duties Imposed

public or meet with people in any situation that may allow

Promoting and enforcing implementation of scientifically
proven techniques forthe prevention of spread the disease
such as hand washing, respiratory hygiene, masks, no hand
shaking, and other measures prescribed by this Directive;
Consult on the basis of research and other resources re-
quited for the implementation ofthis Directive, and imple-
iment policies and procedures;
Provides the necessary guidance to deal withthe problems
caused by social and economic measures determined by
this Directive and other procedures;
‘Coordinates the general implementation of the actions and
prohibitions determined by this Directive and other diree-
tives or manuals to implement this Directive
Provides technical assistance in implementing this Di-
rective;
Implement this Directive in collaboration with relevant
governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Force
