Project Fellow
Supported WHO project titled “Assessing the feasibility of setting up a population-based stroke
registry in a defined population - " The Trivandrum Stroke Registry”, which was the first study
on the incidence of stroke in India.
Collected data on new cases of stroke from different hospitals in the City of Trivandrum on a
daily basis and followed up on them for a month post-discharge.
Assessed and followed up on acute stroke patients using the NIH stroke Scale.
The conclusion of the study was that there are more similarities than differences between
developing and developed countries in the epidemiology of stroke.
Compared to urban stroke patients, rural ones are less likely to be optimally investigated and
treated.

Successfully completed the Rater Qualification Program for Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating
Scale (UPDRS) conducted by Pharma star, USA at the Investigators’ meeting for the Protocol
6002-EU-007 held in Mauritius in 2004.
Recruited patients for clinical trials on Parkinson's Disease by checking inclusion and exclusion
criteria.
