Time expressions
Time is a very important element in writing line graph, thus it is important that you know how to use the
common expressions of time.
In: In 1999... Inthe 20" century... In the first ten year: In the morning... In the past...
For: For the past six months... For twenty years...
During: During the first six months... During the first half of this century...
During the remainder of the year.
From —to/until: From 6am to/until am...
Between — and: Between 6am and 8am.
Before/after: Before 1960 the number remained small, but after 1965 there was a sudden increase
Around/ about: Around / about 1980 there was a change in the number of female part-time employees
By: By the late 19th century the rural workforce had declined significantly.
At: At the end of the last century there was a sharp increase in manufacturing
\ce: Since the 19th century there has been a steady decline.
