The county government of Kirinyaga has allocated 25million which is over and above the
250million to support investors and ensure they have the necessary amenities in terms of
connectivity, sewerage, water and electricity. Private sectors have been called upon to join hands
with the government to provide necessary equipment’s for the CAIP’s operations.

“The land is wide and is enough to accommodate export processing zone authority.” Said Harun
Ng’eno the Council of Governor’s representative while assessing the County’s preparedness for
the project.

Joseph Mbeva the Director of industries in charge of industrialization said the reason for the
establishment of the CAIPS is to reduce cost losses of crops harvested having nowhere to sell
and also balance the equation of importation and exportation. The CAIP project is a means of
manufacturing goods in Kenya which in turn will bag foreign exchange from exportation of
goods.

He noted that farmers are a key factor to the success of the project as they will provide quality
and quantity raw materials needed.
