Progressive Era Reform Poster Project

Directions:

Part 1- Your task is to create a poster specific for your reform issue. The posters need to be creative,
colorful, and credible. These will be “propaganda” posters illustrating the issues of this time. Your goal
will be to create a poster that will effectively convince your peers that the issue you chose is in fact the
greatest issue Americans faced during the progressive era.

Part 2- The second portion of this assignment will be a short essay discussing which goal of progressive
era and which person had the greatest effect on society. The essay will need to be 3 paragraphs long
with the following structure:

1. Introduce your issue and person you believed to have the greatest effect on society. This is
where your thesis will be located.

2. Create a solid argument for your thesis. Provide examples!

3. Summarize your essay with a good conclusion. Restate your thesis and put a bow on your
work!

This project will be worth 100 points! 50 for the poster and 50 for the essay. Do your best work!

7. City Life: How the other half lives, Tenements, settlement houses, The Jungle, The triangle shirtwaist
fire.

8. Segregation: Plessy v. Ferguson, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois, Jim Crow laws, Voting rights,
Ida B. Wells

Poster required elements: Pictures, Words (or subtitles), and color.
