Fig 3.3 Using parabolic-rectangular diagram:
Average stress fav = fcd[1-ec2 /{ecu2(n+1)}]
fav = 18.349 N/mm2
Assuming steel yields then:
M = Fsz = fykAsz/gs = Fcz = favbxz
Depth to neutral axis x = fyk As / (fav b gs)
x = 38.11314 mm
Check that steel will yield:
a) If steel yields then Mult = favbx(d-bx)
where b = 1 - [0.5ecu22 - ec22 / {(n+1)(n+2)}] / [ecu22 - ecu2ec2 / (n+1)]
b = 0.415966
b) If steel does not yield then Mult = EsAsesz
where z = d(1-fydAs/{2hfcdbd}) fyd = fyk/gs = 434.783
and h is obtained from clause 3.1.7(3) h= 1

Steel strain at yield = es,yield = fyk / gs / Es

es,yield = 0.002174
from linear strain relationship:
es = ecu2(d/x - 1)
es = 0.04076 Hence steel will yield
Using Equation (a) for Reinforcement Yielding:

Mult = 325.997 kNm

Serviceability Limit State

The moment capacity at serviceability limit state for Characteristic Combinations will be
based on limiting stresses for the lesser of i) The capacity at an early age (before creep
has occurred) and ii) The capacity after all the creep has taken place

The moment capacity at serviceability limit state for Quasi-Permanent Combinations will be
based on crack control requirements

i) Before creep has occurred the cracked section properties will be

based on the short-term modulus for all actions.
