Problem Statement
Today many big organizations are sitting on large chunks of data, not knowing what to do with it. They
invite consultants & business analysts to have a look at data and come up with insights that could help
the organization run their business better. There is no clear set of instructions in such open-ended
problems and it is expected of the consultant to do a lot of exploration first and formulate the problems
themselves. These DVT projects fall into the bucket of such open-ended problems and a specific
problem statement has not been given intentionally. It is expected of students to explore the data and
come up with good insights. There is no right and wrong answer here. There should a clear logical
story which should come out of their submission."

Approach
Assumptions
1) 70% accurate and complete data is always better than 100% data added with missing information.
2) Car Claim Insurance data is not a confidential file and does not lead to any copy right litigations.
Additional Analysis
1) Claim frequency of SUV and Minivans are better but vans and panel trucks are least. Focus on
sector of cars to improvise the business. Increase the premium rates of SUVs and Minivans as they
seem more prone to accidents.
2) SUV Cars and Private vans are more dominant in Private section of cars. Perhaps that might be the
reason why claim frequency is more. Encouraging them to meet with less accidents by increasing no
claim bonus

3) Blue collar job people rash driving might be the reason for higher claim frequency in that job type.
Perhaps reducing no claim bonus will discourage them with Rash driving.
4) Focus on Doctors and Home makers to check why their claim frequency is less. Perhaps complex
and lengthy claiming process need to be reassessed.
5) Increase premium prices for the older age people cars as claim frequency is higher compared.
6) Research for the underlying reason why the High school educated claiming frequencies are less.
Perhaps easy claiming process would help them. Less claiming frequency in Masters and PhD could
because of maturity.
7) Claim frequency of people who has parents is more and encourage them to reduce by increasing No
claim bonus.
8) Focus on discount options for the people who has parents and children at home. More such
customers will have less claim frequency.
