PRAYER

1. THE NAMES OF GOD

Adonai - "Lord" or "Master"

1. Exodus 23:17: "Three times a year all the men are to appear before the
Sovereign LORD."
2. Psalm 8:1: "LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You
have set your glory in the heavens."

Yahweh - "The LORD" or "I AM WHO I AM"

3. Exodus 3:14: "God said to Moses, 'I am who I am. This is what you are to say
to the Israelites: "I am has sent me to you."'"
4. Psalm 68:4: "Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on
the clouds; rejoice before him — his name is the LORD."

Elohim - "God" (plural form)

5. Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
6. Deuteronomy 6:4: "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one."

7. El - "God" or "mighty one"


o Genesis 33:20: "There he set up an altar and called it El Elohe Israel."
o Genesis 35:7: "There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel
because it was there that God revealed himself to him when he was
fleeing from his brother."
8. Elohim - "God" (plural form)

9. El Shaddai - "God Almighty"

faithfully and be blameless.'"
o Genesis 35:11: "And God said to him, 'I am God Almighty: be fruitful
and increase in number.'"
10. El Elyon - "Most High God"
o Genesis 14:18-20: "Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread
and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram,
saying, 'Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and
earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies
into your hand.'"
o Psalm 57:2: "I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me."
11. El Olam - "Everlasting God"
o Genesis 21:33: "Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and
there he called on the name of the LORD, the Eternal God."
o Isaiah 40:28: "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is
the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not
grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom."
12. El Roi - "God who sees"
o Genesis 16:13: "She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her:
'You are the God who sees me,' for she said, 'I have now seen the One
who sees me.'"
o Genesis 31:42: "If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the
Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, you would surely have sent me

13. El Gibbor - "Mighty God"
o Isaiah 9:6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the
government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
o Jeremiah 32:18: "You show love to thousands but bring the punishment
for the parents' sins into the laps of their children after them. Great and
mighty God, whose name is the LORD Almighty."
14. El Berith - "God of the covenant"
o Judges 9:46: "On hearing this, the citizens in the tower of Shechem
went into the stronghold of the temple of El-Berith."
o Psalm 50:5: "Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a
covenant with me by sacrifice."
15. El De'ot - "God of knowledge"
o 1 Samuel 2:3: "Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak
such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds
are weighed."
o Psalm 139:1-2: "You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from
afar."
16. El HaNe'eman - "Faithful God"
o Deuteronomy 7:9: "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God;
he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand
generations of those who love him and keep his commandments."
o 1 Corinthians 10:13: "No temptation has overtaken you except what is
common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be
tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will
also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
17. El Hakkavod - "God of glory"
o Psalm 29:3: "The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of
glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters."

doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory?

18. El Hayyay - "God of my life"

21. El Rakhum - "Merciful God"

ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath."
o Psalm 86:15: "But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."
22. El Yeshurun - "God of Jeshurun"
o Deuteronomy 32:15: "Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food,
they became heavy and sleek. They abandoned the God who made
them and rejected the Rock their Savior."
o Isaiah 44:2: "This is what the LORD says— he who made you, who
formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid,
Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen."
23. El Yisrael - "God of Israel"

25. El Tsaddik - "Righteous God"
o Isaiah 45:21: "Declare what is to be, present it— let them take counsel
together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant
past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a
righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me."

20. El Chay - "Living God"

 Joshua 3:10: "This is how you will know that the living God is among you and
that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites,
Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites."
 Psalm 84:2: "My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my
heart and my flesh cry out for the living God."

21. El Rachum - "Compassionate God"

 Deuteronomy 4:31: "For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not
abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he
confirmed to them by oath."
 Joel 2:13: "Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your
God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in
love, and he relents from sending calamity."

24. El Emet - "God of truth"

 Psalm 31:5: "Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, LORD, my
faithful God."
 Isaiah 65:16: "Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the one
true God; whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the one true God.
For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes."

25. El Kadosh - "Holy God"

 Joshua 24:19: "Joshua said to the people, 'You are not able to serve the LORD.
He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and
your sins.'"
 Isaiah 6:3: "And they were calling to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is the
LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.'"

26. El Gibor - "Mighty God"

Jehovah Shalom - "The LORD is Peace"

LORD is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites."

Jehovah Sabaoth - "The LORD of Hosts" or "The LORD of Armies"

sacrifice to the LORD Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the
two sons of Eli, were priests of the LORD."

Jehovah Raah - "The LORD is My Shepherd"

Jehovah El Elohim - "The LORD, the God"

disobedience to the LORD, do not spare us this day."

Jehovah Elohay - "The LORD My God"

1. Omnipotence - God is all-powerful.

and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too
hard for you."
2. Omnipresence - God is present everywhere.
o Psalm 139:7-10: "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee
from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make
my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast."
o Jeremiah 23:23-24: "'Am I only a God nearby,' declares the LORD,
'and not a God far away? Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot
see them?' declares the LORD. 'Do not I fill heaven and earth?'
declares the LORD."
3. Omniscience - God is all-knowing.
o Psalm 147:5: "Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his
understanding has no limit."
o Isaiah 46:10: "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient
times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do
all that I please.'"
4. Immutability - God is unchanging.
o Malachi 3:6: "I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of
Jacob, are not destroyed."
o James 1:17: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down
from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like
shifting shadows."
5. Eternity - God exists outside of time.
o Psalm 90:2: "Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the
whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God."
o 1 Timothy 1:17: "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only
God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
6. Self-Existence - God exists independently of anything else.
o Exodus 3:14: "God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM. This is what you
are to say to the Israelites: "I AM has sent me to you."'"
o Acts 17:24-25: "The God who made the world and everything in it is
the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by
human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed
anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and
everything else."
7. Holiness - God is morally perfect and separate from sin.
o Leviticus 19:2: "Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them:
'Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.'"
o Isaiah 6:3: "And they were calling to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is
the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.'"
8. Justice - God is fair and righteous.
o Deuteronomy 32:4: "He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his
ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is
he."
o Romans 2:5: "But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant
heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s
wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed."
9. Mercy - God shows compassion and forgiveness.
o Exodus 34:6: "And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, 'The
LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to
anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.'"
o Lamentations 3:22-23: "Because of the LORD’s great love we are not
consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every
morning; great is your faithfulness."
10. Love - God's nature is characterized by love.
o 1 John 4:8: "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God
is love."
o Ephesians 2:4-5: "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich
in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in
transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."

1. Truthfulness - God is always truthful and reliable.


o Psalm 31:5: "Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, LORD,
my faithful God."
o Psalm 117:2: "For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of
the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD."
2. Goodness - God is inherently good and benevolent.
o Psalm 100:5: "For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his
faithfulness continues through all generations."
o Nahum 1:7: "The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares
for those who trust in him."
3. Sovereignty - God is supreme and has ultimate authority.
o Psalm 103:19: "The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and
his kingdom rules over all."
o Daniel 4:35: "All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He
does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the
earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: 'What have you
done?'"

2. WORSHIP

Romans 11:33-36: "Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments and decisions and how unfathomable and
untraceable are His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been
His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it would be paid back to him? For
from Him [all things originate] and through Him [all things live and exist] and to Him
are all things [directed]. To Him be glory and honor forever! Amen."

Psalm 8: "O Lord, our Lord, How majestic and glorious and excellent is Your name
in all the earth! You have displayed Your splendor above the heavens."

1 Chronicles 29:11: "Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and
the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth;
Yours is the dominion and kingdom, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as ruler over
all."

2 Samuel 7:22: "For this reason You are great, O Lord God; for there is none like
You, and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our
ears."

Job 9:4: "[God] is wise in heart and mighty in strength; Who has [ever] defied or
challenged Him and remained unharmed?"

Psalm 145:3: "Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is [so
vast and profound as to be] unsearchable [incomprehensible to man]."

Isaiah 26:4: "Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield,
your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]."

Isaiah 40:28-31: "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the
Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become tired or grow weary; There
is no searching of His understanding. He gives strength to the weary, And to him who
has no might He increases power. Even youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous
young men stumble badly, But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and
hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their
wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and
not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired."

Jeremiah 10:12: "It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established and
created the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the
heavens."

Matthew 19:26: "But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With people [as far as it
depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"

Ephesians 3:20: "Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do
superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest
prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us."
