Stage 1: Play Through the Game Until the Final Boss Celestial Emissary

Welcome to Yharnam hunters! If you're a soul's vet, Bloodborne has similar concepts, but the Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
major change is the combat. Not being able to block damage like you could in the Soul's franchise Blood Gem Contact
means you will have to resort to dodging to survive. That said, Bloodborne can actually be easier

Dungeons
In this stage you should get a rare Rune and Blood Gem, which shouldn't be too diYcult, and also
upgrade your weapon to +10, which could potentially require a bit of grinding. The main course of
this stage however is playing through the Chalice Dungeons. Throughout the game you will have
gotten 3 Chalices' from defeating three different bosses. These chalices can be used in the
Hunter's Dream to create dungeons. They can be randomised, but you only need to complete the
preset dungeons. The Snal boss of the Snal Chalice Dungeon is not so tough after all, however, the
long way to it is, so you're gonna need a beefed up character.

reloading after getting one of the endings. You will get put straight into NG+ after completing the
game. After getting all 3 endings, carry on into NG+ and buy the weapon unlocked for defeating
the Snal boss. One of the endings doesn't have a boss Sght, so make sure you go into NG+ with a
save Sle that has defeated the Snal boss. If you've done everything else, the Platinum should be
yours, Congrats!

FAQ

What is Insight?
Insight is a very valuable thing to have, not only in real life. In Bloodborne you need it to play online
and access certain merchants, but the side effects of having too much insight (20+) includes more
powerful enemies, with increased movesets. It's similar to Humanity in the Dark Souls titles, it's
used differently though. The good news is that you won't lose insight upon death. Insight can be
gained through various means, some of which are listed below:
1. You'll obtain Insight for encountering (but not necessarily beating) bosses for the Srst time.
The amount depends on the boss.
2. You'll gain Insight for beating a boss. The amount of insight depends on the boss.
3. You'll get 1 Insight for helping another player beating a boss using the Small Resonant Bell.
4. You'll gain 1 Insight for beating the host after invading using the Sinister Bell.
5. You'll gain Insight for entering speciSc areas in the game, the amount of Insight depends on
the area.
c. There are consumable items which will give you Insight. Those can't be bought but found as
loot throughout the game:
Madman's Knowledge (1 Insight)
Great One's Wisdom (2 Insight)
One Third of Umbilical Cord (3 Insight) - Do not consume by any means until you're
ready to initiate the true ending. There are only 4 in the game, and you will only obtain
one through normal progression. You need three for the true ending, consuming them
would lock you out of one ending trophy.

How does Online Play Work?

The online is very similar to the Souls titles. Basically you can summon, get summoned, invade
and get invaded. The mechanics are a tad different though, so lets have a look at the online play
items:

The Beckoning Bell

Return to the Hunter's Dream after having obtained at least one insight (for example by having a
glimpse at the Srst boss, the Cleric Beast). A group of messengers will have appeared on the
stairs near the doll. Interact with them to obtain the bell. The Beckoning Bell allows you to
summon up to two hunters from other worlds who have used their Small Resonant Bell for jolly
cooperation. Be warned though: Using it will cost you one insight, you won't get it back even if
nobody used their Small Resonant Bell and you don't Snd a coop partner. The good news is that
Bloodborne also allows you to team up with friends: Simply hit Options and got to Network. There
you can set a password for online play. Choose the same password as your friend and the game
should team you up. Of course you still need to be no more than 10 levels apart. One last warning:
While looking for a coop partner you are also in danger of being invaded by another player who
has used their Sinister Resonant Bell. Look below for more info in that item.

The Small Resonant Bell

You need to have at least 10 Insight to obtain this item. Go to the Hunter's Dream and look for the
upper Messenger Shop. It's a fountain like the 'normal' one left of the doll, this shop doesn't accept
Blood as currency though, it's Insight only. When you have 10 Insights you can enter the shop and
purchase at your heart's content. Be warned though: if you leave the shop you won't be able to
enter it again until you hold 10 Insight again. The Small Resonant Bell will cost you one Insight.
Use it to search for players who have used their Beckoning Bell. If the game Snds a host within
your level range you will be transferred to their world. If you successfully slay the boss with them
you'll obtain one Insight as a reward.

Sinister Resonant Bell

Like the Small Resonant Bell, this item can be bought at the upper Messenger Shop for one
Insight. Ring it to invade other players for some refreshing PVP action. Unlike in the Souls games
you can't invade everyone at any time - your possible victim needs to have rung their Beckoning
Bell to be vulnerable. When your victim rings their Beckoning Bell, a Bell Ringing Maiden will spawn
in their world. This is an enemy that stays hidden in one spot. You can tell you're close to her when
you hear a loud distinctive bell ring every 5 or so seconds. The Bell Ringing Maiden essentially
acts as a doorway, between your world and the victims world. If the victim kills the Maiden before
you have entered their world, you won't be able to invade them again until they re-ring their
Beckoning Bell. Some areas, like the late-game 'Nightmare Frontier', has Bell Maidens spawned
even if you haven't rang your Beckoning Bell, which makes for a ripe spot to invade.

Silencing Blank
Once you have rung one of the three bells above the game will keep searching for suitable players.
Should you for whatever reason wish to cancel this process simply use the Silencing Blank.
Moreover, you can also use it to send guests back home or to return home yourself if you are
guest in another hunter's world. Convieniently enough you will get this item for free together with
the Beckoning Bell - as soon as you have obtained your Srst Insight a group of messagers will wait
for you next to the doll in the Hunter's dream with both items.

What stats should I level up?

The Srst thing you need to know is that all stats in Bloodborne have soft caps and hard caps. A
soft cap is reached when levelling up starts yielding diminishing results. One example: Levelling
up Vitality will give you huge chunks of health until you reach level 30. After that, the effects of
levelling up are a bit more sobering. You will still gain more hit points, but not as many as before.
This changes to the worse when you reach the second cap, which for Vitality is reached at level
50. After this level the effects of levelling up are minute. For most stats it doesn't really make
sense to level them up beyond the second soft cap.

Now that this is clear let's have a look at the six basic stats Bloodborne has to offer:

Vitality
Your vitality determines your total hit points (HP). The soft cap for this stat will be reached at level
30. After this, you will notice that levelling doesn't have quite the effect it used to have. The next
cap is at level 50, after that you will see increasingly diminishing returns all the way up to the hard
cap, which is reached at level 99.

Endurance
Endurance determines your stamina and resistances. However, once you reach 40, the soft cap,
you will cease to gain additional stamina when levelling up. You will however still increase your
resistances all the way up to level 99, the hard cap.

Strength
The strenght stat determines heavy physical weapon ATK. It also determines wheter you can use
certain equipment and it scales with your strenght based weapons. The soft cap for this stat will
be reached at level 25. After this, you will notice that levelling doesn't increase your attack values
as it used to do. The second soft cap is reached at level 50 - after that you will see increasingly
unsatisfying returns all the way up to level 99.

Skill
This stat determines more nuanced physical weapon ATK. It also determines whether or not you
can use certain equipment and it scales with your skill based weapons. Once you reach the the
Srst soft cap at level 25 you will notice that levelling doesn't increase your attack values as it used
to do. The second cap is reached at level 50 - after that you will see increasingly unsatisfying
returns all the way up to level 99.

Bloodtinge
This stat determines the power of weapons which use Quicksilver Bullets. The Srst soft cap is
reached at level 25, the second one is reached at level 50. The weapons which scale with
Bloodtinge are the Chikage, the Evelyn, the Hunter Pistol, the Hunter Blunderbuss and the Rige
Spear.

Arcane
This stat determines the power of your Arcane ATK. It also determines whether or not you can use
certain equipment and it increases your discovery rate. The Srst soft cap is reached at level 25, the
second one at level 50.

Which stats you should level up largely depends on your playstyle and on the equipment you want
to use. You might have no idea what you are doing at the beginning of the game, but it's always
wise to spend some points on Vitality and Endurance, so just do that if you aren't sure in which
direction you want to go. Experiment with different weapons and equipment and see what works
best for you. Once you have found your playstyle check which stats scale with your preferred
equipment. You can Snd out by having a look at the stats of the weapon. If you are a tank who
likes to Kirkhammer the living shit out of everything you probably won't put too many points into
Bloodtinge, if you want to focus on Arcane attacks you propbably don't need too much Endurance.
If you are not sure what kind of build you want to create you could alway go to the Bloodborne wiki
and check out different PVE (Player versus Environment) and PVP (Player versus Player) builds
users have posted there.

Where do I go next?
A common question in many of FromSoftware's titles, simply not knowing where to go could be as
big a roadblock as the diYculty. This question is asked even more in Bloodborne; Yharnam's
streets and back alley's feel like a maze at times, and it can be diYcult to know where to go next.
Look below for a simple list of what area and boss you should be aiming at next (as well as
recommended level). If you'd like more information on where exactly to Snd the area or boss, look

An Introduction to Chalice Dungeons

Chalice Dungeons are optional dungeons that feature new bosses and enemies that don't appear
in the main game, and also new variations of loot. Chalice Dungeons can be randomised, meaning
the layout of the rooms and loot location will be different for each player. However, only the 'Root'
dungeons are randomised, any other dungeon that doesn't have 'Root' in the title isn't randomised,
and will have the same enemy layouts and bosses as everyone else.

There're 3 'starter' chalices obtained during the main game. The Srst is dropped by the Blood
Starved Beast, the second is dropped by Amygdala, and the third dropped by Ebrietas, Daughter of
the Cosmos. Only the 'Pthumerian' Chalice, dropped by the Blood Starved Beast is required for any
trophies. To access the Chalice Dungeons, go to any of the tombstones to the left of the fountain
store in the Hunter's Dream. You can then perform a ritual using Blood Echos and Ritual materials,
to create a dungeon using the chalice. Sometimes you'll be able to add extra materials for bonus
effects, like making a 'DeSled Chalice', which halves your maximum health. The diYculty of
dungeons is measured in 'Depth' 1-5. A dungeon with a depth of 1 is easy to clear, but a dungoen
with a depth of 5 will be incredibly diYcult in comparison.

As you may have read earlier, chalice dungeons require 'Ritual Materials' to be created. Every ritual
will require 'Ritual Blood', the most prominent material. Ritual Blood is found in the chalice
dungeons, and is rated in 5 different levels (Ritual Blood (1) can be bought from the store). For
example, Ritual Blood (3) can only be found in Chalice dungeons with a depth of 2+.

Rare Materials
Red Jelly - You need 4 red jelly to access the Snal pthumerian chalice dungeon. 2 red jelly is found
on the Srst goor of the Lecture theatre, while another easy 2 can be found on the 3rd goor of the
Great Isz Chalice Dungeon (Chalice dropped by Ebrietas) in the treasure room.

Each Chalice dungeon has 3+ goors (4 Maximum), and can be seperated into 3 different sections
per goor. The starting corridor is the Srst section. Sometimes there will be a golden door on the
left or right hand side of this corridor, meaning an optional treasure area. After the starter corridor,
you'll reach the main goor area. This is where the bulk of the goor's content is. If you look around
nearby from the entrance, you'll Snd a locked gate with blue/green lights next to it. To get this gate
open, you'll need to pull a lever found somewhere in this section of the goor. After pulling the lever
and unlocking the door, you'll be in the Snal corridor before the boss. Not unlike the starter
corridor, this corridor also has a chance of having a treasure area, represented by a golden door
found on the left or right hand side of the corridor.

Thats great and everything, but I bet you're dying to know: Do I have to play them to get the
Platinum? The short answer? Yes. The long answer? There're 3 speciSc things you need to do in
the Chalice Dungeons in order to get the Platinum. Firstly, the Hunter's tool (Required for
Hunter's Craft) 'Workshop Haze Extractor', can only be found in the Chalice Dungeon. Secondly,
the Hunter's Weapon (Required for Hunter's Essence) 'Beast Claw' can only be found in the
Ailing Lorace Chalice Dungeon. Finally, and probably most importantly, the hardest trophy in the
game is earned by beating the Snal boss ( Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen) and can only be
fought in the Snal Chalice Dungeon. So there you have it, two items you need to collect are
Chalice-Exclusive, and one extremely hard boss you need to beat. If you require further assistance,
go to the speciSc trophy for an in-depth guide.

Game Breaking or Trophy Locking Bugs

The Lunarium Key will not spawn in Byrgenwerth if the player has used the Beckoning Bell
(To Co-op or to PVP) in the Forbidden Woods. This will stop progression since the Key is
required to progress. Fixed in Patch 1.02
Eileen the Crow may not spawn in the encounter with the enemy Hunter at the Tomb of
Oedon, which is part of her questline. Sometimes, even when she does spawn, she will be
hostile to the player. While completing Eileen's questline isn't necessary for the Platinum, she
does need to at the very least been killed, so the player can collect the Badge she drops.

MISSABLE

Yharnam Sunrise, Honoring Wishes, and Childhood's Beginning are the 3 trophies
related to the ending of the game. Normally, only one can be earned per playthrough, since after
making a choice, you will be locked into the Snal boss and NG+. I highly recommend backing up
your save data to either the cloud (PS+members only) or an external storage device (USB/External
Hard Drive). This will cut out 2 extra playthroughs. If you do this, you should deSnitely do the
endings in this order: Yharnam Sunrise > Honoring Wishes > Childhood's Beginning. If
you go into NG+ without killing Gehrman, you won't be able to purchase the Burial Blade required
for Hunter's Essence.

At the end of the game, the gate in the Hunter's Dream Garden will open, and you can speak to
Gehrman, who is now sitting back there. After a lengthy conversation, 2 options will be presented:

For Yharnam Sunrise, select 'Submit Your Life', which will bypass the Snal boss and end the
game.

For Honoring Wishes, select 'Refuse', which will initiate a boss Sght with Gehrman, the First
Hunter. Defeat him to end the game.

However, there is a 3rd secret 'True' ending, involving the Umbilical Cords you can collect
throughout the game. You need atleast 3 Umbilical Cords, which are listed below:

1 - Defeat Mergo's Wet Nurse Boss - See Mergo's Wet Nurse for more information.

2 - In the Abandoned Workshop. See The Source of the Dream for more information.

3 - Kill Iosefka in the clinic after killing Rom, the Vacuous Spider (She will be lying on a table up
the on the third goor). At the Srst ever lamp, turn around and you can talk to to a woman behind a
door at the top of the stairs. She will eventually ask you to tell NPC's to go to her clinic, but DON'T,
as she will kill them. In the Forbidden Forest, there will be a secret passage leading to a back
entrance to her clinic. After defeating Rom, go into her clinic, and you will Snd her moaning on an
operating table. Kill her for the umbilical cord. For more information on how to get into Iosefka's
Clinic, see Cainhurst.

4 - Kill Arianna's baby. You will Snd Arianna behind a door with a lantern outside, in the village area
in the Cathedral Ward. You need to tell her to go to the Cathedral Ward safe area. After defeating
Rom, she will be grabbing her stomach in pain, and you won't be able to talk to her. After defeating
Micolash, she won't be in her usual spot. Instead, turn around and go down the ladder you Srst
came up all those hours ago to get to the Cathedral. You will Snd Arianna with her new demonic
baby monster thing. The baby will drop the Umbilical Cord when killed, and Arianna will die with it,
suggesting the baby is controlling her.

After getting atleast 3 umbilical cords, you must then consume them before talking to Gehrman at
the Hunter's Dream garden area, then select 'Refuse' as youv'e done before. You must defeat
Gerhman, and then when the moon presence appears, a different cutscene will trigger, unlocking
the secret Snal boss 'Moon Presence'.

Preparation
A bold hunter's mark may be helpful, but is optional. Bring a lot of health vials, and a +10 upgraded
weapon. Wear anything you like, preferrably something with a high physical defense.

Gerhman, the First Hunter Boss Fight Strategy

After selecting the 'Refuse' option, Gehrman will attack you. He'll start by using his scythe. He will
hit hard and fast, with a long reach. Don't dodge backwards, instead dodge left or right, which
most of his upwards or downwards attacks will miss. Gehrman doesn't leave a lot of room for
attacking, so try to get 1 or 2 hits in before his attacks again. Knock 25% of his health down and
he'll ditch his scythe in favour of a sword/gun combo. Same strategy applies, but be careful when
you attack, as Gehrman can perform visceral attacks by stunning you with his rige. Knock him
down to 50% health and he'll eventually stand still and look up at the moon. This is your chance to
remove a chunk of his health, I got him to about 25% with a +10 Saw Cleaver. Now he'll be buffed
(By the moon?), and will be glowing a pale colour, which speeds up most of his attacks. Don't be
scared to trade hits with him, as there is an even smaller window of attack at this stage. Gehrman
will also create an area of effect attack by looking up at the moon again, while you could get a few
hits in, I recommend rolling away like a madman, since if you're caught in the AOE, it'll take a large
amount of your health away. Eventually Gehrman will fall, and if you've consumed the Umbilical
Cords, the secret boss Sght will trigger.

Moonlight Presence Boss Fight Strategy

Thankfully, the Moon Presence is easier than Gehrman. If you're low on Blood Vials, use your Bold
Hunters Mark to get back to the Hunter's Dream. Don't worry about losing progress, the Moon
Presense will still be present when you return. The MP uses a lot of stupid spinning knockback
attacks, making it hard to get a hit on him. I recommend getting behind his butt and whaling on
him when you get the chance. It is probably impossible not to get hit during this Sght, so chug your
Vials down when you need it. Eventually the Presence will cause an Arena wide AOE attack, which
will drain all your health, leaving you with 1hp. He will also use the Numbing Mist equivalent on
you, meaning you can't heal. You're probably thinking "What the hell!?", but don't worry, the
presence will be stunned for a good 5-10 seconds after causing this attack. While he is stunned,
run to him and use attacks to get your health back up through the counter attack feature. By the
time the boss has stopped daydreaming, you should be back at near enough full health. Apart
from this nasty trick, the Moonlight Presence is straightforward. After killing him, the 'True' ending
will occur, leaving you even more confused than the normal endings.

have to play through most of the game again until you reach Margo's Loft (Middle) to obtain the
string from there.
