Stage 1: Play Through the Game Until the Final Boss Celestial Emissary
Welcome to Yharnam hunters! If you're a soul's vet, Bloodborne has similar concepts, but the Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
major change is the combat. Not being able to block damage like you could in the Soul's franchise Blood Gem Contact
means you will have to resort to dodging to survive. That said, Bloodborne can actually be easier

typically require hidden or rare items to unlock.

FAQ
What is Insight?
Insight is a very valuable thing to have, not only in real life. In Bloodborne you need it to play online
and access certain merchants, but the side effects of having too much insight (20+) includes more
powerful enemies, with increased movesets. It's similar to Humanity in the Dark Souls titles, it's
used differently though. The good news is that you won't lose insight upon death. Insight can be
gained through various means, some of which are listed below:
1. You'll obtain Insight for encountering (but not necessarily beating) bosses for the Srst time.
The amount depends on the boss.
2. You'll gain Insight for beating a boss. The amount of insight depends on the boss.
3. You'll get 1 Insight for helping another player beating a boss using the Small Resonant Bell.
4. You'll gain 1 Insight for beating the host after invading using the Sinister Bell.
5. You'll gain Insight for entering speciSc areas in the game, the amount of Insight depends on
the area.
c. There are consumable items which will give you Insight. Those can't be bought but found as
loot throughout the game:
Madman's Knowledge (1 Insight)
Great One's Wisdom (2 Insight)
One Third of Umbilical Cord (3 Insight) - Do not consume by any means until you're
ready to initiate the true ending. There are only 4 in the game, and you will only obtain
one through normal progression. You need three for the true ending, consuming them
would lock you out of one ending trophy.
Silencing Blank
Once you have rung one of the three bells above the game will keep searching for suitable players.
Should you for whatever reason wish to cancel this process simply use the Silencing Blank.
Moreover, you can also use it to send guests back home or to return home yourself if you are
guest in another hunter's world. Convieniently enough you will get this item for free together with
the Beckoning Bell - as soon as you have obtained your Srst Insight a group of messagers will wait
for you next to the doll in the Hunter's dream with both items.
Now that this is clear let's have a look at the six basic stats Bloodborne has to offer:
Vitality
Your vitality determines your total hit points (HP). The soft cap for this stat will be reached at level
30. After this, you will notice that levelling doesn't have quite the effect it used to have. The next
cap is at level 50, after that you will see increasingly diminishing returns all the way up to the hard
cap, which is reached at level 99.
Endurance
Endurance determines your stamina and resistances. However, once you reach 40, the soft cap,
you will cease to gain additional stamina when levelling up. You will however still increase your
resistances all the way up to level 99, the hard cap.
Strength
The strenght stat determines heavy physical weapon ATK. It also determines wheter you can use
certain equipment and it scales with your strenght based weapons. The soft cap for this stat will
be reached at level 25. After this, you will notice that levelling doesn't increase your attack values
as it used to do. The second soft cap is reached at level 50 - after that you will see increasingly
unsatisfying returns all the way up to level 99.
Skill
This stat determines more nuanced physical weapon ATK. It also determines whether or not you
can use certain equipment and it scales with your skill based weapons. Once you reach the the
Srst soft cap at level 25 you will notice that levelling doesn't increase your attack values as it used
to do. The second cap is reached at level 50 - after that you will see increasingly unsatisfying
returns all the way up to level 99.
Bloodtinge
This stat determines the power of weapons which use Quicksilver Bullets. The Srst soft cap is
reached at level 25, the second one is reached at level 50. The weapons which scale with
Bloodtinge are the Chikage, the Evelyn, the Hunter Pistol, the Hunter Blunderbuss and the Rige
Spear.
Arcane
This stat determines the power of your Arcane ATK. It also determines whether or not you can use
certain equipment and it increases your discovery rate. The Srst soft cap is reached at level 25, the
second one at level 50.
Which stats you should level up largely depends on your playstyle and on the equipment you want
to use. You might have no idea what you are doing at the beginning of the game, but it's always
wise to spend some points on Vitality and Endurance, so just do that if you aren't sure in which
direction you want to go. Experiment with different weapons and equipment and see what works
best for you. Once you have found your playstyle check which stats scale with your preferred
equipment. You can Snd out by having a look at the stats of the weapon. If you are a tank who
likes to Kirkhammer the living shit out of everything you probably won't put too many points into
Bloodtinge, if you want to focus on Arcane attacks you propbably don't need too much Endurance.
If you are not sure what kind of build you want to create you could alway go to the Bloodborne wiki
and check out different PVE (Player versus Environment) and PVP (Player versus Player) builds
users have posted there.
Where do I go next?
A common question in many of FromSoftware's titles, simply not knowing where to go could be as
big a roadblock as the diYculty. This question is asked even more in Bloodborne; Yharnam's
streets and back alley's feel like a maze at times, and it can be diYcult to know where to go next.
Look below for a simple list of what area and boss you should be aiming at next (as well as
recommended level). If you'd like more information on where exactly to Snd the area or boss, look
at that bosse's speciSc trophy guide.

There're 3 'starter' chalices obtained during the main game. The Srst is dropped by the Blood
Starved Beast, the second is dropped by Amygdala, and the third dropped by Ebrietas, Daughter of
the Cosmos. Only the 'Pthumerian' Chalice, dropped by the Blood Starved Beast is required for any
trophies. To access the Chalice Dungeons, go to any of the tombstones to the left of the fountain
store in the Hunter's Dream. You can then perform a ritual using Blood Echos and Ritual materials,
to create a dungeon using the chalice. Sometimes you'll be able to add extra materials for bonus
effects, like making a 'DeSled Chalice', which halves your maximum health. The diYculty of
dungeons is measured in 'Depth' 1-5. A dungeon with a depth of 1 is easy to clear, but a dungoen
with a depth of 5 will be incredibly diYcult in comparison.
As you may have read earlier, chalice dungeons require 'Ritual Materials' to be created. Every ritual
will require 'Ritual Blood', the most prominent material. Ritual Blood is found in the chalice
dungeons, and is rated in 5 different levels (Ritual Blood (1) can be bought from the store). For
example, Ritual Blood (3) can only be found in Chalice dungeons with a depth of 2+.
Rare Materials
Red Jelly - You need 4 red jelly to access the Snal pthumerian chalice dungeon. 2 red jelly is found
on the Srst goor of the Lecture theatre, while another easy 2 can be found on the 3rd goor of the
Great Isz Chalice Dungeon (Chalice dropped by Ebrietas) in the treasure room.
Each Chalice dungeon has 3+ goors (4 Maximum), and can be seperated into 3 different sections
per goor. The starting corridor is the Srst section. Sometimes there will be a golden door on the
left or right hand side of this corridor, meaning an optional treasure area. After the starter corridor,
you'll reach the main goor area. This is where the bulk of the goor's content is. If you look around
nearby from the entrance, you'll Snd a locked gate with blue/green lights next to it. To get this gate
open, you'll need to pull a lever found somewhere in this section of the goor. After pulling the lever
and unlocking the door, you'll be in the Snal corridor before the boss. Not unlike the starter
corridor, this corridor also has a chance of having a treasure area, represented by a golden door
found on the left or right hand side of the corridor.
Thats great and everything, but I bet you're dying to know: Do I have to play them to get the
Platinum? The short answer? Yes. The long answer? There're 3 speciSc things you need to do in
the Chalice Dungeons in order to get the Platinum. Firstly, the Hunter's tool (Required for
Hunter's Craft) 'Workshop Haze Extractor', can only be found in the Chalice Dungeon. Secondly,
the Hunter's Weapon (Required for Hunter's Essence) 'Beast Claw' can only be found in the
Ailing Lorace Chalice Dungeon. Finally, and probably most importantly, the hardest trophy in the
game is earned by beating the Snal boss ( Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen) and can only be
fought in the Snal Chalice Dungeon. So there you have it, two items you need to collect are
Chalice-Exclusive, and one extremely hard boss you need to beat. If you require further assistance,
go to the speciSc trophy for an in-depth guide.

MISSABLE
Yharnam Sunrise, Honoring Wishes, and Childhood's Beginning are the 3 trophies
related to the ending of the game. Normally, only one can be earned per playthrough, since after
making a choice, you will be locked into the Snal boss and NG+. I highly recommend backing up
your save data to either the cloud (PS+members only) or an external storage device (USB/External
Hard Drive). This will cut out 2 extra playthroughs. If you do this, you should deSnitely do the
endings in this order: Yharnam Sunrise > Honoring Wishes > Childhood's Beginning. If
you go into NG+ without killing Gehrman, you won't be able to purchase the Burial Blade required
for Hunter's Essence.
At the end of the game, the gate in the Hunter's Dream Garden will open, and you can speak to
Gehrman, who is now sitting back there. After a lengthy conversation, 2 options will be presented:
For Yharnam Sunrise, select 'Submit Your Life', which will bypass the Snal boss and end the
game.
For Honoring Wishes, select 'Refuse', which will initiate a boss Sght with Gehrman, the First
Hunter. Defeat him to end the game.
However, there is a 3rd secret 'True' ending, involving the Umbilical Cords you can collect
throughout the game. You need atleast 3 Umbilical Cords, which are listed below:
1 - Defeat Mergo's Wet Nurse Boss - See Mergo's Wet Nurse for more information.
2 - In the Abandoned Workshop. See The Source of the Dream for more information.
3 - Kill Iosefka in the clinic after killing Rom, the Vacuous Spider (She will be lying on a table up
the on the third goor). At the Srst ever lamp, turn around and you can talk to to a woman behind a
door at the top of the stairs. She will eventually ask you to tell NPC's to go to her clinic, but DON'T,
as she will kill them. In the Forbidden Forest, there will be a secret passage leading to a back
entrance to her clinic. After defeating Rom, go into her clinic, and you will Snd her moaning on an
operating table. Kill her for the umbilical cord. For more information on how to get into Iosefka's
Clinic, see Cainhurst.
4 - Kill Arianna's baby. You will Snd Arianna behind a door with a lantern outside, in the village area
in the Cathedral Ward. You need to tell her to go to the Cathedral Ward safe area. After defeating
Rom, she will be grabbing her stomach in pain, and you won't be able to talk to her. After defeating
Micolash, she won't be in her usual spot. Instead, turn around and go down the ladder you Srst
came up all those hours ago to get to the Cathedral. You will Snd Arianna with her new demonic
baby monster thing. The baby will drop the Umbilical Cord when killed, and Arianna will die with it,
suggesting the baby is controlling her.
After getting atleast 3 umbilical cords, you must then consume them before talking to Gehrman at
the Hunter's Dream garden area, then select 'Refuse' as youv'e done before. You must defeat
Gerhman, and then when the moon presence appears, a different cutscene will trigger, unlocking
the secret Snal boss 'Moon Presence'.
Preparation
A bold hunter's mark may be helpful, but is optional. Bring a lot of health vials, and a +10 upgraded
weapon. Wear anything you like, preferrably something with a high physical defense.
MISSABLE
Missable Note: If you start NG+ your dungeons will carry over and they will not incease in diYculty
like the rest of the game. However, if you didn't kill the Brain of Mensis in the Nightmare of Mensis
area you'll miss the Living String which is required for the last chalice ritual. This means you'd
have to play through most of the game again until you reach Margo's Loft (Middle) to obtain the
string from there.
