What is
BIM?
It is a process where this
collaboration happens in a
peaceful manner between
the Architects, Clients,
Contractors, Manufacturers,
Suppliers, Consultants and
whomsoever associated
with the project.

THE 3 M'S OF BIM
BIM is a PROCESS
MODELLING Sharing Information
Defining the execution plan
Implementing the process
Common Data Environment

3D Model Just a model for

MODEL vs
3D BIM Model
visualization
Just a model for visualization
and a load of information
(DATA).
SMART MODEL
(We need special software to
help us do that)
MANAGEMENT To ensure the process is
followed without interfering on
the project development.

A COLLOBORATION PROCESS TO SHARE INFORMATION USING A SMART 3D MODEL FOR THE

BENEFIT OF THE PROJECT WITHOUT ANY CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

LEVEL DIMENSIONS LOD
LEVEL OF
DEVELOPMENT
The BIM levels depict maturity levels.
THE LEVELS &
DIMENSIONS OF BIM There are 5 levels of Building Information Modeling
and they are related to BIM dimensions, i.e., 2D, 3D,
4D, 5D, 6D and 7D.
2D is the 2-Dimensional view
3D is the 3-Dimensional view
4D is related to time, schedule and program
5D is related to costs
6D is related to sustainability
7D is related to facility management.
Some of them also mention 8D, which is related to
health and safety.
LOD - LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT

It refers to each Project phase which helps us to understand better.

We need to add detail to our project in 2 different ways
Level of Detail (Geometry, Maturity)
Level of Information (Quantity of Data)
This is very much needed to focus on the work that is exactly required
for the project.
This will be determined at the very beginning of the project.
6 Levels from 100 - 500.
LOD - LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT

100 - Preliminary Design

200 - Schematic Design
300 - Design Development
350 - Construction Document
400 - Construction
500 - As built
