PETER PARKER was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained the

proportional speed, strength, and agility of a SPIDER, adhesive
fingertips and toes, and the unique precognitive awareness of
danger called “SPIDER-SENSE”! After the tragic death of his

Uncle Ben, Peter understood that with great power there must
also come great responsibility. He became the crimefighting
super hero called...
Kindred turned Peter's world upside down. No rman Osborn, the Green Goblin, having
been “cleansed” of his
sins by the Sin-Eater, revealed that Kindred is actually his son, Harry Osborn.
Harry’s reign of terror over Peter
Parker ended when Norman and Mayor Wilson Fisk, A.K.A. the Kingpin, trapped Kindred
in a Darkforce cage.

With Kindred put away, Peter was finally ready to put the Osborn family drama
behind him and return to his normal

life. But that normal life didn’t involve that crazy new suit on the left! Anyway,
Peter shares an apartment with
“reformed villain” Fred Myers, A.K.A Boomerang, Randy Robertson, and their pet
alien, Gog. Gog used to guard the
pieces of the powerful Lifeline Tablet, which Boomerang and Spider-Man are
endeavoring to keep out of Kingpin’s hands.
But Kingpin has plans of his own...

HEY, WEB-HEADS! This last page is one ої my

faves of this entire run. | love Gog, and Bullseye
better miss, dang it. “The Gog gets it!”--HA!
Anyway, it's BEEN a while, huh? Sorry to be so
absent as far as letters pages go. Things have
been BUSY in the Spider-Office as Lindsey and
l are doing our best to help the best creators in
comics keep you stocked with the best Spider-
Man stories of all time. I'll have more to say at
the end, but take it away, Preston!

Nick Spencer,
I'm waist-deep in high school with overwhelming
crap I’ve gotta get figured out, everything from
driving to American lit. | never expected too
much when | picked up an issue of AMAZING
SPIDER-MAN I’ve had on my shelf for a while, but
OH BOY, After reading that issue, | have spent
more time reading up on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
than | have spent doing homework. Well, thanks
a lot, bro. (Really appreciate keeping Pete as
human as you are--great work!)

Thank you,
Preston Hughes

Thanks for writing, Preston. When 1 was in high

school, | would often spend all of class drawing,
until one day | thought, “I should probably pay
more attention to my schoolwork.” WHAT A
MISTAKE! Don't tell your parents І said that, okay?
But if | would have kept drawing, maybe | could
be drawing these comics and not editing them!!!
[Nick pages back through the issue]. NOPE! How
can | compete with PATRICK GLEASON?!?!?! Or
MARK BAGLEY?!?! Or MARCELO FERREIRA?!?!
Anyway...uh...stay in school, kids!

I'm а 19-year-old student from Edinburgh, and

this is my first time writing in. I've been a Spidey
fan all my life, from the Sam Raimi films when
| was younger to collecting ASM from 2010 at
the beginning of Dan Slott's run. Spidey has
been there all ту life, I'm proud to say I’m also
a massive Miles Morales fan and own all his
comics as well, and | just finished his game on
PS5, but the main reason I'm writing in is to
thank the whole Spidey team throughout the
years and my life, as recently my friend and
flatmate passed away. We would often discuss
Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4. | remember eagerly
knocking оп his bedroom door to tell him that a
Miles Morales game had been announced, and
it is with sadness and joy that | look back now,
-having just finished the game.

This whole mourning period, Spider-Man has

heen helping me carry on. | would also like to
add that the “Last Remains” arc is one of the
most interesting and engaging Spidey stories
I’ve read, and | can't wait to read on as ії
continues. Finally, | want to give a big thanks
to the whole Spidey crew across all the mediums
(but especially the comics) for being with me
through thick and thin.
Lots of love,
Aaron

Thanks for the letter, Aaron, and so sorry for your

loss. That's absolutely crushing, and your friends
in the Spider-Office are on your side and super
glad we could help you through this difficult
time. And | shared your letter with MARVEL
GAMES’ Bill Rosemann to share with everyone
on the Spidey games team.

Dear Spider-Office,
WOW. Just... WOW.

| have been reading Spider-Man since 1995.

| was a child of the Clone Saga, survived the

Mackie/ Byrne era, enjoyed the JMS era, largely

was disinterested in the BND era (though still

read it!), and Slott’s run was very hot and cold.

For years, 1 did not feel the need to write in,

but here | am.

Nick Spencer, thank you. Nick Lowe, thank you.

` As someone who has podcasted about Spider-

Man since 2006, | have reviewed many issues

over the years. Hundreds. | tried to find the good

‘in all, old and new. For the first time since my
childhood, | feel Spider-Man is fun again. It's ~
_ interesting again.

Thank you for making MJ part of the book again,

Thank you for making Norman and Kingpin

Spider-Man villains again.

Thank you for making me саге about Fred, Randy,

Carlie, Norah, Kraven, Chameleon, and even
Chance again!

Thank you for making Harry the absolutely crazed

lunatic that he should have always been.

Thank you for Ryan Ottley, Humberto Ramos,

Patrick Gleason, and all the other great artists

this run has had.

Thank you for making Spider-Man excellent

month in and month out again.

l always felt for the guys who had to come aboard

and pick up the pieces that were left on the floor

when “Опе More Day” hit the shelves, on mine

and Stan’s birthday in 2007, and they had their

work cut out for them. While | am sure many
came back to the title, it felt like things were
off for a long time. And for the most part, Mr.
Spencer has been able to address them one by
one, and now, the cloud and specter of “One
More Day” is being addressed and embellished!
It's the literal third rail that felt so avoided and
needs to be discussed and maybe even enhanced.
During the plague that shall not be named, |

reread all the runs, looking at the clues, picking

up on things that | missed, and when t came to

#850, | was like YES! Best Goblin arc since J.M.
DeMatteis’ SPECTACULAR run in 1997-1998,
where Norman is just an absolute...jerk. (Can't
use adult language in a Spidey comic!)

І haven't іп years sat in wait for the next regular

issue, but | am here. The reveal of Kindred was
maybe teased a lot but there seems to be a

bigger, more important, story here, and | am

along for it.
Also, thank you for bringing Bagley back. He was
sorely missed, and | can’t wait for him to get into
his groove and be the Bagley we all know, love,
and drool over his artwork. (Not literally--gotta
keep the books MINT.)

| know this year has been difficult, but please-

know that your hard work is paying off. These
last fifty-plus issues have been а treat, а delight,
and they are EPIC in scale.

Keep up the EXCELLENT work.

Highest Regards,
Zach Joiner

Thanks for the kind letter, Zach. Nick 5. is doing

sucha great job and seems to Бе a (dare | say it?)
kindred spirit to you. Nick, Pat, Mark, and the rest
of the team have 50 much in store for you, and |
can't wait to hear from you as it all comes out!

Hello, Spidey Offices,

It’s been a great, 30+ year run, but | just can’t

do it anymore. This is really hard, but ASM hasn't
been fun or interesting for quite a while now,
pretty much ever since Nick Spencer took over
writing duties, and I've done the unthinkable:
stopped my subscription. |

Please don't think I'm а negative, Simpsons-esque

Comic Book Guy. I've enjoyed clone craziness,
symbiote silliness, and wheat cake wackiness for
decades, For perspective, Dan Slott's run was
absolutely outstanding--fun, new directions and
always true to Peter Parker's character, which is
the most important part of good Spidey storytelling.

Something that hasn't been there lately. |

The stories lately haven't been about Peter.

They've relied on shock value and extremely
verbose villain soliloquies instead of story
development--I think that Kindred has had more
dialogue than Spider-Man lately, and it’s all the
same old villain musings. Absolutely nothing
interesting. The whole “let's really break Peter
down and mess with him” thing is already
overdone, especially when it's poorly executed. |
mean, digging up Uncle Ben? That's what we have
to resort to? How in the world did that sound like
a good idea to anyone? It just seems uninspired
and honestly offensive to a lifelong Spidey fan.

Please make Spider-Man fun again. Killing

off Aunt May, resurrecting Gwen repeatedly,
unearthing Ben--that’s just uninspired writing,
and | no longer enjoy it. I'm not saying it has to
be all rainbows and sunshine. There have been
a lot of great, great stories over the years that
have tested our hero, but the best are the ones
that let Peter shine. He is the hero, after all.

You're my #1, Spidey, and always will be.

Sincerely,

Jason Krahnke
Saratoga Springs, NY

Sorry you feel this way, Jason. It always saddens

us when ANYONE doesn't like what we put out,
but especially longtime fans. For what it's worth,
I'm loving this run and book and hope we get
you back soon.

WOW! | had a whole letter written in my mind

about this Last Remains storyline, and then you
went and ended #55 like THAT. Well, I'll still
write it anyway.

I'm not often emotionally impacted by stories.

I've cried at the end of three TV shows, movies,
and plays combined. Comics impact me
emotionally even more rarely. However, there
are two exceptions: God Loves, Man Kills and
the “Last Remains” storyline of SPIDER-MAN
here. Every time | turned the page, | never failed
to get chills. | was left speechless at the end
of every issue. Every twist was unexpected.
(Kindred’s reveal was the most unexpected, but
| was so happy to learn his identity after waiting
50 many months.) The writing is some of the
best I've read, and the art was simply stunning.
Usually the impact of comic art to me is just
admiration for how amazing a full-page fight
scene looks. The art in these issues, though,
was just chilling and perfect.

| wasn’t sure if | was going to continue with ASM

after #801, but these issues here have made те
50 happy that I continued reading them. These
are the greatest new issues lve read in the past
few years, honestly. Amazing job to all of you.

Thanks for writing, Ezra, and thanks for sticking

Hey Nick,

Please pass congratulations on to Patrick for

creating what I'd consider опе of the greatest
Spidey covers of all time. Appropriately amazing.

(Did he sneak a “PAT” into the web close to

where Pete’s collarbone would be, or am |
seeing things?)

Happy New Year,

HOW ABOUT THAT COVER TO ASM #55, huh?

I've been editing comics for eighteen years, and
I’ve NEVER seen a cover catch fire like Patrick's
Web-Head cover. We are so stoked to have Pat on
the Spider-Team, and just wait until you see some
of his next incredible covers! As for his “РАТ”5,
Patrick has a whole game for his fans to play!

Dear Editor,

The play Oedipus Rex was written by Sophocles

in the year 429 BCE.

It is the classic story of the desire for the child

to destroy the father and vice versa. The “Oedipal
Complex" is at the cornerstone of Freudian
psychoanalytic theory.

According to Freudian theory, the child must

conquer his fear of the parent as the first step
to mastery and maturity.
So how could! not think of Freudian psychology
while | have been reading this newest iteration
of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN?

It’s all touched оп іп {һе story of the Osborns,

Harry and Norman.

Congrats to Spencer, Bagley, Hennessy, Dell,

et al.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is deep but also cool!

Long may you run!

Hey Spider-Writers!

Name's Scott--HUGE fan of Spider-Man! | just

read the latest issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN,
and | enjoyed seeing the return of Mr. Negative,
especially after | fought him in Insomniac’s 2018
video game! Can't wait for the next ish! Also,
| wanted to know, when are you gonna feature
more of Pete's sister? | enjoyed reading about
Teresa's adventures with her big brother, Spidey,
and | would love to see more!

l also поре one day to be working alongside you

guys, but until then--keep on thwipping!

Scott Ehlinger
SCOTT! Thanks for writing. Glad you're enjoying

it. You haven't seen the last of Teresa! She's

returning soon! And you sound great, so | hope

we DO work together some day! And | like that

“Keep on thwipping!” | may just steal that.

I just put AMAZING SPIDER-MAN down for an
ongoing pull at my comics shop, Comic Realms,
іп Bismarck, ND.

Last time | read AMAZING SPIDER-MAN regularly

was when Todd McFarlane was drawing the book.
So it's been a while.

І picked up а сору of #56 and 757. It was like

coming home to an old friend. You guys are doing
great work, and | can’t wait to see where it goes.

Thanks,

Р.5. [need to mention my daughter Kara and son

Т.Ј. They also read comics and will get а kick out
of having their names in the book.

Big shout-out to Comic Realms! We love our

comic shops herein the Spidey- Office, so hearing
about the great ones you all shop at is always a
pleasure! Welcome back, Stuart--we missed you.
Boy, those McFarlane issues were incredible,
huh? Whatever happened to that guy? You came

back ata wild time, Stuart, so strapin and keep

your arms and legs inside the car at all times.
And НІ, KARA AND T.J.!!!

OKAY! Some quick things before we go! Hope

everyone dug Spidey’s new costume. Dustin
Weaver designed this THREATS AND MENACES
costume and did such a great job. There are some
variants by Dustin coming up that will blow your
minds. Here's Dustin's design for the costume,
and one day we may share some preliminary
sketches that were just too revolutionary for
people of this century.

Like | mentioned before, we've got some huge

stories on the docket coming ир, but | was NOT
kidding. In fact, as you may have heard by now,
Nick’s stories have gone so big they, once more,
cannot be contained within the covers of just
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN! We have some special
GIANT-SIZE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN issues
coming that are going to blow your mind and
something even bigger coming up that I probably
shouldn't even have HINTED at yet. AHHHHH!!!!!
Anyway, come back in two weeks, and Nick, Pat,
Edgar, Joe, Lindsey, and | will give you the latest
best comic ever!!!!!

Keep thwipping! (Thanks, Scott, that’s better

than “Keep swinging” for sure.)
