Sometimes lots of actors are needing in films to play the roles of people in the background. These actors,
who don’t speak, are known as extras. It believes that getting a job as an extra can lead to a real acting
career, but it’s very rare for this to happen. However, some famous actors started as extras. Matt Damon
and Ben Affleck can see in crowd scenes in the 1989 film Field of Dreams. Brad Pitt, George Clooney and
Clint Eastwood had also worked as extras before they became famous. If you want to become an extra, the
first thing you should do is to get your photo took by a professional photographer and send it to different
film studios.

If you get a part, you will probably ask to bring your own costume and even have your make-up doing
before you arrive. Make sure you read the description of the film carefully – you won’t get work if you
turn up for an 18th-century drama wearing a T-shirt and jeans!
