Rationale
The English language remains the predominant means of conveying concepts
and ideas on an international level. Due to the fact that it has emerged as the most
prevalent and extensively spoken language globally. Present day, there has been an
exponential increase in the demand for students to enhance their language proficiency.
“Kaleidoscope: Exploring the Spectrum of Stories” is the theme of the School-
Based English Festival 2023, which was being organized by the Future English
Teachers Association of South East Asian Institute of Technology Inc. This endeavor
commemorates the wide array of literary voices, narratives, and genres. This
opportunity presents a dynamic tapestry of narratives and elicits awe and inquiry among
the audience. This is also intended to foster collaboration and allow them to
demonstrate their language and talent abilities. It is imperative to utilize them so that
they can demonstrate competitiveness not only in written but also in oral English
communication.
More specifically, the students were able to:
a. develop higher-order thinking skills and artistic and creative abilities through friendly
competition;
b. improve their speaking and writing abilities;
c. increase their awareness and knowledge of literary genres; and
d. provide them with meaningful experiences in which they can exemplify the positive
values and attitude required for the development of 21st century skills.
This activity fosters and recognizes the students’ prowess in the domains of oral
communication, written expression, and analytical reasoning. This is extremely pertinent
in allowing them to manifest their innate passion and uncover their own talents. By
means of literary and linguistic contexts, it is therefore proposed that they exhibit their
diverse macro and critical thinking abilities at the English Festival 2023.
