Unit 1.1: A brief tour through the Module


Objectives:

Life Orientation can be summed up as the study


of the self . It is through this study that a person
is able to gain a good insight into him or herself
and from this study learn new skills as well as
enhance and adapt existing skills in order to
engage with broader society.

In relation to the above, our modules this year will


focus on the following key concepts:
1) Development of the self in society
2) Social and environmental responsibility
3) Democracy and human rights
4) Careers and career choices
5) Study skills
6) Physical Education

A detailed Assessment plan (Formal


assessment tasks) for the year has
been uploaded to the portal, under the
pre- amble. Please take some time to
read through and take note of termly
assessments . Aside from these a
number of quizzes and non-formal
assessment tasks will be issued after
every sub-unit. Please complete
these as they provide good practice
on the skills covered in the specific
units.
