How does your industry use both standardised and innovative technology to suit its

operational warehousing needs?

Due to my organisation running for less than 5 years we are not currently up to speed with
automating the operations in warehousing.

This does help give an advantage on seeing what can work with our small team. With the
trialling process it can help to minimise complications to try create a process that can help
our suppliers and the warehouse team

Where can the use of technology in warehousing be improved in your industry?

The target area that my business is focusing is trying to eliminate paperwork as it is the
cause of orders being missed, double picked, incorrect cycle count. As it can cause
production time to be over extended due to trying to fix these issues. This can also cause
financial issues as it can create loss of sales or incorrect quantities needing to be ordered/
written off.

We are trying to go for more of a tablet/scanning route to

help cut out the paper completely. Therefore, it can
improve the production and reduce the risk of losing
sales.

As shown this is the scanner we are wanting to invest in

but due to the high cost of this product we are only
trialling the scanner on the right. It had improved on
keeping track of the floor team production time. However,
we are still using paper to help proceed with production
at this rate.

We do hope to invest in a new scanner before things escalate with our financial and sales
team.

How would this impact warehouse operations and supply chain management?

It would impact greatly as it had been the leading cause of loss time in production, sales,
and financial. This can help the supply chain team focus on future projections for the
business rather be stuck as we call it the ‘Stone age’
