Unit I
Introduction to mutual funds : structure of mutual funds in India, management of investors
money and the concept of custodian, role of asset management companies, new fund offers and role
of registrar and transfer agents, investors rights and obligations
Unit II
Mutual fund products and features : open ended and close ended funds, types of mutual funds,
types of equity schemes, ESG Mutual Funds
Unit III
Exchange traded funds : introduction to exchange traded funds, salient features of exchange
traded funds, working of exchange traded funds, market making by authorised participants, important
terms related to exchange traded funds, types of exchange traded funds, advantages of exchange
traded funds, comparison of exchange traded funds with other mutual funds, applications of exchange
traded funds
Unit IV
Debt funds : salient features of debt funds, interest rate risk, credit risk, pricing of debt instrument,
various debt mutual fund schemes
Unit V
Liquid funds : salient features of liquid funds, floating rate scheme, portfolio churning of liquid funds

Taxation : capital gains taxation, concept of indexation, fixed maturity plans

Unit VI
Regulations : objectives of association of mutual funds of India, regulations of mutual funds in India,
association of mutual funds of India, securities and exchange board of India (mutual funds)
regulations, 1996, product labelling in mutual funds
